Interesting lineup changes/tinkering coming now that the team has confirmed that Gally is out a minimum of 6 weeks (that takes him to early January at least) and Mitchell is out for the next 7-10 days.
In this morning's practice, DSP was back on the ice and was on the first line in Gally's spot. Interesting.
Andrighetto was with Galchenyuk and Eller, which is somewhat predictable as that line had a very good game last match.
Semin was still on the fourth line right wing. Holloway was the extra dude on offense.
We shall see what game day brings.

Neither he nor Gallagher are what you would call quick, but they have that same bowling-ball style, and like I noted a couple of games ago DSP is always around the net, like Gallagher. So style-wise they are closer than say, Gallagher and Andrighetto, or Gallagher and Semin. So that could be the thinking. Having said that, DSP is no Gallagher. But then who is? Oh well. At least this year nobody can accuse the team of relying solely on Carey Price, or on being ridiculously healthy.

Price's injury didn't hurt us until Condon tired out and/or the rest of the league was able to figure him out. Gallagher's injury is for a longer term and while he's not as critical as Price, he's still a key cog. A year from now, we'll have more players ready to step in, (Carr, Scherbak) without such a drop in talent level. Smith-Pelley has a lot of heart, good wheels and can take the body. He's just like Gallagher, right? Ok, not to demean DSP, but there's a difference in the hands. I realize that Therrien doesn't have a lot of choice, and that he likes to reward effort and seniority, which is why Semin's not on the first line, but man....DSP is as far away from a first line right winger as Lenin was from capitalism. I suspect he pretty well has to try an existing player there (DSP, Weise) before he can insert Holloway or Carr or Hudon. It's more about maintaining chemistry than it is about having the right guy in the right place.

DSP has played in Gally's spot and looked good so hopefully that stands true. I'd like to try weise there but the DD line has been amazing and MT should not break them up. My biggest concern with the 1st line is Max's play. It has been sub par most of the season.
Chucky has been play great the last few games so i'm happy if he's playing with another offensive player.
Big match up between the top 2 teams in the league and the two wealthiest!!!

Yeah, I'm not feeling so good about this game. I feel like we're due for a whupping, and with the injuries piling up, against one of the best teams in the league, and on the road...

Price is back, Pateryn has filled in well for Emelin. Gallagher is a big loss but I think they will pull it together. Not saying they will win but it won't be a blowout.

I'm not sure we're due for a whupping as we recently got whupped by Colorado - a not very good team who was whipped by numerous teams since. But the Rags are on a roll and I do believe want to show their THE team and this would be a great opportunity. Not sure we can win this unless Max starts to play or Carey stands on his head which may be countered by Lundquist. Calling Max. Max? Anyone?

Pateryn sitting out. Therrien would not comment on whether Emelin goes back with Petry or not.
I wouldn't be surprised if we lambasted the Rags (just remembered that descriptive word). From all accounts they've been living on Lundquist time these days, getting outshot a lot, but still winning. So, I'm betting that they're due for the pendulum to swing back. Fast. (no not that Fast). Too bad he's not a pylon, that would generate a lot of puns.

Doesn't Price have a ridiculously low GAA against the Rags in the regular season? I could see him making another statement and shutting them out. 2-0 good guys.

I hope it doesn't happen….just saying the climate is right for another Krash Kreider on Price.
Aside from the fact that we're competing with them for 1st overall….
Carey's just coming back from an injury of the "not healing properly/second opinion" variety. If ever he's to be vulnerable, it's now.
Kreider may be more than a little steamed about all the flack he took after he was "knocked down" by Price back in October.
He's in his barn tonight.
I'm sure the team is aware…

That might have been our first shot of the game, too....certainly our first good look.
Good to get to Lundqvist early....

Picked him up in one of my fantasy pools only he's activated for tomorrow ... very nice to see his hard work in St John's pay off in the show ... like the territorial advantage and puck possession Montreal has had to this point ... Cheers.

Fleischmann-Desharnais-Wiese playing keep-away ... Eller-Galchenyuk-Andrighetto has had some very good shifts ... a strong period to this point ... wanna bet Bud Holloway is chomping at the bit ...
Cheers.

A fantastic road period, so far! Rangers have gotten away with at least two blatant penalties. Frustrating.

About time!
That's the third time DD's been "offended" this period....

Decent puck movement on that PP, now on PK. Weise interference.

And there.
And there.
End of first. 1-0.

I'm confused ... If Weise was offside, and he was, how did he interfere? The play was dead

Emelin looked bad there. And there. And there. End of first. 1-0. Emelin's looked bad for a long time. Or in general. When he's not running around flattening guys, he's ineffective.
