This could turn out to be the darkest day in Habs history... the habs win and MTHead keeps his job.

The Leafs got 2 goals from their D last night so MTL now has the lowest scoring D corps in the league with 11. We're #30! We're #30! Might as well cheer for something…. Adolescent sarcasm aside…. If MB is waiting to see how we do against the likes of Toronto and Columbus…. Since Dec. 1, Toronto is 9-9-2 for 20 pts. Columbus is 7-10-4 for 18 pts. We are dead last in the league with 9 pts. in 21 games. I know there's the "we played tougher opponents" argument….whatever…. Nothing's a given now...

Hoping the Esposito/Gretzky speech Bergevin made yesterday has the same impact it did in '72 and '02 ... we'll see how the team comes out in this one ... could be the make/break game of the season for the Habs ... aside; anyone pick up on the theme in the game thread ...
Cheers.

I don't know what to think here... do I stay positive and hope for a nice long run, or do I give into my cynicism and just cackle wildly at every goal scored against us with visions of a lottery pick fuelling the hysteria? I hate the Laffs, but they have been so bad for so long that my hate has diminished and turned into pity. Throw Babcock into the mix and I find it really hard to muster up the energy to give into the hate because the guy is just so damn good and I can't make fun of an organization I secretly now admire. Therefore, I hope we lose. I hope we lose terribly. I hope that this breaks backs; shatters confidence and sends the entire lineup into a tailspin they cannot get out of. I want to see knives come out, backs stabbed and drama... so much drama. And I want it to continue until the end of the season, where the sheer carnage on display will force Mol$on's hand yet again so that he can clean house and start over because the Bergy/MT experiment will be ruled a disaster.

Hey, with Carr back up, how about these lines:
Pacioretty-Plekanec-Carr (he plays a Gally light game) Eller-Galchenyuk-Gallagher (who does not miss the EGG line?) Fleischmann-DD-Weise (was on fire for the start of the season) Flynn-Mitchell-DSP (the fourth liners)

Who'd a thunk back in late November that in just 7 weeks time, some of us would be cheering for the Leafs so we could finish BELOW THEM....while others would be cheering for us to break out of an EPIC FAIL slide and get back to winning? We have 50 pts. with 35 games left.
70 pts. up for grabs....and we need at least 47 of them.
.671 hockey starting now...and every loss makes that pct. higher.

Or....,we could aim for 70 points which means 20 points out of the next 35 games or a .286 record. Even for us that's pretty tough. And that guarantees nothing. But it would get us into the bottom 5 for sure, even bottom 2. We'd need that to guarantee a top 3 selection. I'm up for the challenge. How about you guys?

Montreal is in disarray. So the boys supposedly support Therrien, yet they manage to achieve level of futility not seen in 75-80 years?
Toronto is bad but not this bad.

How the h*ll do I cheer for the Laffs when I hate them much?
So being a Habs fan now is choosing who I dispise more, the Laffs or MT HEAD.
Never thought it would come to this at 55 years as a fan....

If it serves the Habs best in the long run to lose to the Leafs in a season when they, too, have no bragging rights or Cup chance……that's okay by me.

I'll be at the game tonight (comped tickets) and there's no way in H E double hockey stick that I'll cheer for the Leafs or against the Habs. Sorry guys but I'm a Habs fan first and foremost and even on the darkest days I'm cheering for a win. I never want to see us stoop to the likes of the Oilers, Islanders et al and play for a lottery pick. This franchise has always been about tradition, valour, honour, what have you. I still have hope. Squeak into the playoffs with a healthy and well-rested Price and let's see what happens.

Babcock will coach circles around the Head .... This team is mentally weak, not to put anything on Condon but anything short of a 3 goal cushion lol they are always that one goal against from crumbling.
5-1 Leafs and if that happens the pressure will have heads exploding......4 years and MB's C ice position is the same the day he started now that is brutal!!!
The heart will hold out hope but my head says they are done barring a miracle.....might as well join the other carnivores and let the blood letting begin.
Have fun tonight boys I'm giddy with excitement .... Well we had a fun 2 months it's almost golf season anyways.

I never thought that I would hope for a HABS lost in my life time. I have been a Canadien fan since 1948 and never hope for a LAFFS win ever before. Well folks this is a sad day for me this is the day. I keep on telling my family and friends that I want to see another cup before I die, they tell me I will live past one hundred years old.

So the lines in practice are pretty well same old same old, with Carr in on the third line.
That ineffective DD-Chucky combo will get another shot and Markov is on the top pairing after all that rest this week.
Alrighty then.

A loss to the Leafs will not expedite MT's departure. MB has dug in. It will take a lot more. With that in mind, our next 7 games are against non-playoff teams (i.e. our competitors for that top draft pick). A pathetic showing will solidify our low standings and hopefully bring an end to the MT II era.
It's convenient to use Price's injury as an excuse to miss the playoffs but it is no excuse for being the worst team in the league. That's what we've been the last few months and if it doesn't change in the next 7 games against that competition then MB has indeed messed up and he will have to act. If he's true to his word and the is all on him, then the choice of what he needs to do at the end of this 7 game stretch is obvious. Don't really care if he take sMT with him, as the new GM will move fast to get rid of MT.

A pathetic showing will solidify our low standings and hopefully bring an end to the MT II era. I highly doubt it. MT is here until the end of October from the looks of it. and if Price is here and steals games again, even longer.

No way I can cheer for a Toronto win. I found the loss against Boston hard enough to accept. This is the Canadiens, no matter how mishandled they may be at the moment.
I'm expecting the team to be up for it.

I can see Babs out coaching MTHead (not difficult) and the boys losing 5-2 after taking a 2-0 lead... and MTHead going back to his old faithful... Puck Luck

We come up with different lineups and combinations and although it may be fun, its like playing poker and your hand has a 2, 5, 9, 7 and 4. you can rearrange them in any order, but unless you are bluffing like MB, don't put money on your hand. I looked at the scoring leaders and there are a lot of names like vanReimsdyke and Crosby who are no longer at the top of the heap. I am not sure of our window of opportunity, but we don't have a current Norris winner or a forward producing in the top five. Not even close. I laughed at the futility of the leafs when we last won the cup but that was a long, long time ago and we aren't any closer to repeating. Stamkos is no longer leading the league in scoring and Drouin isn't rookie of the year. We are missing more than one piece of the puzzle. Markov has more value in trade than in production. He can help Washington more than Montreal. Subban is a great guy, hard shot, slick skater and stickhandler, hits hard but his offense has slowed down and he stopped rushing. Pacioretty has a good shot but he shoots too often from far out and although he scores, his long shots result in loss of possession. Can't say enough good things about Gallagher of bad things about Eller. Too many management mistakes, trades that didn't work out, picks that didn't develop, character players with shady characters, lack of size, scoring, etc. Still have to cheer for the Habs against the leafs but it's hard to watch.

I would like it as well Dis but I'm so tired of living ground hog day with this club the only thing that will illicit t al change is carnage.
I hope they win20 in a row but looking at the lines and how MT will coach barring a miracle we are staring off the day like every other during this slide
