Marty Biron was arguing the negative side of this earlier. Saying that a $5 million goalie isn't half the player. On a single year sample? Maybe. Guys like Jones and Murray have shown they can have flashes. Both have crashed too. To get that guy that is there for you basically every year, costs you a lot more. Was being sarcastic actually. Comparing it to the Habs situation. I know. I just thought it worthy to make the point that you can spend half, but you don't get the year to year consistency.

Jamie McLennan speaking like a heretic. He called Quenneville the best coach on the planet. I thought it was Babcock.

Extra stupid season with an extra stupid signing.
Thank God Simmonds is not our problem.

TSN guys now playing on a golf simulator. Slow day? O'Neill looks like he is enjoying retirement too much.

When you think about Simmonds having averaged 30 goals per year over a four season stretch not so long ago (2013-17), you almost have to feel for him that the market for his services was so soft that he took a one year deal to try to reestablish his value.

That was part of the conversation on tsn. He missed his window for a big pay day. Pacioretty just managed to cash in.

Too long for a guy that will be 29 on Wednesday. He'll be 36 when the deal is over. I bet Lee intended to re sign in NY & was just testing the market.

Too long for a guy that will be 29 on Wednesday. He'll be 36 when the deal is over. I think they get through year five before they start regretting it. We'll see. As a US-born college player, he's got fewer games on his body than the equivalent Canadian CHL players. He's not a bruiser power forward either.

Habs sign some AHLer named Riley Barber to a one year , $700,000 contract
I assume that’s a two way contract, where he makes much less in the AHL

They need scoring help on the wing in Laval. Deslauriers was not going to bring it as he likely would have been sent down. Barber also does not count against the five player vet rule this year, so this is a good farm team signing.

What does Sheehy mean when he says they didn't "negotiate" with other teams? If you talk to other teams then you give them the impression that your client is available. If he had no intention of leaving NY then that's dishonest.
