OMG is right Marc
Wow! So the value for us to receive McLaren would have been Hackett & Komisarek....No Thanks!!!
IMO Sundstrom is worth much more than a comp pick.
Does anyone really think Boston was going to trade with us?

www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=24522The Sharks sent right wing Niklas Sundstrom and a third round selection in the 2004 Entry Draft to the Montreal Canadiens for goaltender Jeff Hackett. San Jose then sent Hackett and defenseman Jeff Jillson to Boston for McLaren and Boston's fourth round selection in 2004.

3rd rounder in 2004? why not 2003 a better draft by all accounts?

Firstly i believe we got as much or more for Hack than we could have unless we sacrificed more asset's we gave up a guy who was gone anyhow at the end of the season and we got an 8th overall pick who's entering his prime plus a 4th. I'm one who is a detractor of AS for dealing away those mid rounder's so it's nice to get one back. Audett was put on waiver's as well this could mean the end for that circus that in itself is a win for the Habs.

OK...Boston just improved big time...now and the future...Jillson will be their future PP QB
AS better come up with a big time explanation..

You gotta figure, one, that Savard didn't want Hackett ending up in Boston, but by the same token, he saw an oppurtunity to keep McLaren out of the conference and did not want to pass that up. Not that bad...

I mean that only improves them. AS better have a good reason.......like there was no other way to make a trade for Hackett.

Marc don't worry about what everyone else is doing Mcclaren was a more valuable asset than Hackett and the bruins needed a goalie we got a great return for our goalie without sacrificing any further assets we're a better club that's what counts maybe the b's are even better but it's a short term fix we got youth for age something we need, we may be ridding ourselves of Audette another thing we need would you sooner have given the b's Komi or Hainsey with hack or done it this way for sundstrum

I don't think it'll come back to bite us in the arse. How many more times do we play 'em in the regular season?

It helps the Habs, but it improves the B's even more. For now and the future.

Not that bad... Yup you're right. Sundstrom could still turn it around. I would like to know the lenght of his contract though. But the 3rd rounder is pretty good in my mind. Even if it is in 2004. You never know what will come up ... It's probable SJ is gonna get way better next year so the pic will turn out to become an early 4th rounder though ...

3rd rounder in 2004? why not 2003 a better draft by all accounts? Because San Jose knows that too. So, Hackett (3.6million) for Dackell's younger brother (1.8million) and a pick. Not bad. Actually I'm kind of surprised anyone would ante up to meet Hackett's paycheque. Beats watching him go UFA for nothing. Garon comes up. Audette goes away. Sundstrom, who's one goal behind "Dead Dog Donald" (thanks Jacques) in scoring this year and an order of magnitude superior defensively, joins the lineup. Plus we nab what could well be a decent building block in the draft pick. I like it.

First round
(1) Ottawa vs. (8) Habs (2) New Jersey vs. (7) NYI (3) Washington vs. (6) Toronto (4) Philly vs (5) Boston

This is clearly Theo's team now without any question doubt or mentor looking over his shoulder Theo you better not let me down i've been counting on you !!!!!

But man does Boston win big time..........

Viper...... listen bud...... It helps the Habs, but it improves the B's even more. For now and the future. That is what bugs me. yup but that's not our concern the b's we're gonna get better by trading McClaren moreso than we could've by trading hack that's just a fact. What should make you happy is that we didn't lose anything more than we had too and we gained more than we expected. This was an excellent deal by AS. All i'm saying my friend is look on the bright side i know we hate the b's and wish they weren't getting better but it was gonna happen sooner or later somehow. We still have the better goalie. san jose got raped we didn't that is a good thing.

www.canadiens.com/english/presse/communique/index.cfm?id=1426« We are very satisfied to have acquired Niklas Sundstrom, a very skilled player, as well as a 3rd round pick. Sundstrom adds depth to our group of forwards. Despite his age, at only 27, he has already played in almost 600 NHL games, and is averaging over 40 points per season » said André Savard.

Is it realistic to think that Dackell will be bumped off that fast?
UH-OH.. maybe Hossa is going to be sent down.
