Well, there's a consensus here - Kilger needs a home. 3d line winger, top 2 line winger who has to grind away, 4th line center to groom him for Juneau's role in a season and a half. But he needs a stable home. Personally, I think giving Bulis a shot on the top 2 lines is worthwhile, Bulis hasa bit of adefensive conscience (he's the offensive guy on his current line though), and IMO doesn't have the grit or hands to really click with Koivu and Zed, but he can't be worse than Audette or Chow. Kilger playing alongside Juneau will learn how to play a solid defensive game, and I'd even tell him why he's being played there. But hey, give him just about any stable role with a simple purpose, and play him. If the Habs were regularly playing Bulis, Ribeiro, Kilger and Hainsey, I'd be a lot less worried about the long-term prospects for this team. We'd at least have some youth in the lineup. Of course, adding Malhotra and Asham would be even better..... a guy can dream, right ? I'd like to see Kilger remaining on the top-line for atleast 10 games. He's doing well (and will be, even if he isn't producing at every game - defence/strenght) and could burst out offensively. I'd really like to see him become our 2nd LW but it isn't all that likely. He should become a fixture on our third line, as our defensive C... but Juneau's in the way. Hossa should be our 2nd line LW, but Gilmour's in the way... Ribeiro should be our 2nd line C, but Perreault's in the way... Hainsey should be our 2nd/3rd LD, but Traverse and (mostly) Dykhuis are in the way...

While some of AS's moves are questionnable.... -Gilmour had to be kept around in case Koivu couldn't put together a solid season -Perreault is our only sure thing at center, and was a good signing - and Ribeiro hasn't shown he can be a consistent NHL player.... Kilger doesn't have the hands or hockey sense to be a top-line player, he can grind, bang and go sit in front of the net, but he really isn't the right kind of player to be playing that role. He's an upgrade over Audette, but then again, few people aren't. As to Juneau being in the way - Juneau is a key player at this point, you can't just move him aside, and Kilger isn't ready to be a serious checker, but if you now start grooming Kilger for that role, so that in a year Kilger starts getting some serious checking assignments, a year after that he's *the* man on the 3d line, and you start to have some continuity on this team, which has been sorely lacking since 1994 or so.

I was not impressed with Kilgers hockey sense last night. He seemed to be a little lost out there. Mind you, he is following his simple agenda pretty well.
I will not argue that Kilger is not the "ultimate" solution but at least he is A SOLUTION. I rather see him take the extra second to figure out where to go rather then Audi skating figure 8's.
Can Ward fill those shoes? Hossa? When will we ever know with this brain trust?
Kilger had another goal last night. If this experiment goes for 10 games, does this mean he has 10+ goals and get's demoted? Notice where he scored the goals from. That's where men hurt other men and that's where little girls like Audette avoid.

They all count. Put the puck on the net, crash the net, keep the puck down low, keep your feet moving on the break, keep whacking and slashing at the puck no matter what the angle. If you do, you get those kind of goals from time to time, and you earn them as much as the pretty ones. I don't care if it went in off Kilger's anti-concussion helmet; he's been involved two nights in a row and as far as I'm concerned he's earned the breaks.

Last night was a fluke goal from a bad angle..... Perhaps you would prefer Audette tacking a blistering puff shot at the goaltenders chest? Then waddling away and shaking his head like it was the highlight save of the year. Hey, where's Gino? Now there is a real power forward with hands softer then three ply bathroom tissue.

Last night was a lucky break, but when you work hard you get those breaks. No one needs to tell me that it's better to have Kilger than Audette on the top line.... I'm the guy who wants Audette taken out and shot, after all. And I'm not talking metaphorically.

Well 3 of them have been playing regularly and Hainsey is an injury away from being called up so it ain't all bad. Call up Hossa and half of our forwards are 28 and under(Zed,Koivu, Bulis, Kilger, Ribs and Hossa)

Say that reminds me...anyone remember that ''tear'' Gino went on in January last year? 3 goals in 4 games I believe? 1 in Carolina, 1 in TB and 1 in DC? LOL it was hilarious Kilger is a better fit on that line than Audette or Chow for sure.
