I think Komi would put us no worse off than Quintal right now, but that's not the only thing to consider. He really does need to develop a certain minimum amount of confidence and speed, playing at a minimum level. If he gets called up before that, he's likely to take a step back and hinder his development. That's why I'd like to see him at that level first, before we call him up. Some time with Hamilton will acclimate him to the professional life and then he can concentrate on the play. From a pure talent, performance level, he could replace Q right now, which says all it has to about Q.

I agree 17..but the Habs love those mediocre veterans and I have seen them play them instead of the kids before and I know they'll do it again

I think you'd both be astounded at how bad Mike Komisarek could look right now in a fast-paced game at this level. My bet is that he'll need a full year in the AHL before we can expect to see him play even 15 effective minutes of NHL calibre defence.

Perhaps. Or maybe we'd be surprised at how fast he's improving. Based on recent reports, you'd be righter than me. We'll get a better idea after the HabsRus scouting contingent sees Mike next Sunday. HA, I want a full, detailed report.

I doubt that we'll see Komi here for more than a cup o coffee...injury call up this year. I really wasn't impressed with his play at camp. I expected him to have a little problem adapting to the speed of the NHL game, but what I really found distressing was his largely tame game ( the T. Green wallop notwithstanding). His play reminded me of P. Popovic. IMHO, he will need a full year in the NHL to develop his game. And even more importantly coming from college he basically is used to playing about 40 games a season. This being his first year of pro, I predict that he will hit the wall around Feb. Our patience WILL be rewarded!
