Yea, I don't want to get rid or Perreault. I see the big center after Koivu and Perreault, although I wonder if Perreault would be just as well off on wing outside of taking the faceoffs.
A guy on the 3rd line to deal with the big centers in the East is my perspective. I know CJ likes to play his top line vs the other team's but I wonder how that will work out over the long term and especially in the playoffs. Saku could be just ground down and I notice that we're still getting outshot, although not by so wide a margin. Also to be noticed is that the usual hypocrisy is at play over the rules- many players are complaining that the hooking isn't being called again and I'm noticing that as well. I just think that big guys are better able to deal with that kind of crap. (as an aside, I wish that they would fire one of the so-called 'top' refs for not calling the rules; that would change things. Of course the owners and Betteman really aren't serious which is why I say hypocrits)
I also think that a big center can dominate like a small one can't. What I'd really like would be a big top center, but I'll setttle for one lower down the pecking order if that's all that can be found.
By the way, ever notice that when average or smallish players are mentioned in arguments naysaying the need for a big center the names tend to be all stars, often Hall of Famers. In other words, they're virtually exceptions that prove the rule.
All other things being equal, size matters. I'll bet any GM in the NHL would kill for a Thornton or at least for a Federov.
