Men, if some people from ROC saw some of our old sitcoms they'd freak... Symphorien, Moi et l'autre, Les Brillants, Quelle Famille... pretty scary stuff But then again there was the Red Green Show and Kids in the Hall to even things out... Remember Anatole ? and later there was "La p'tite vie" with the duo from Ding et Dong PS: What's ROC mean ? ROC is Rest of Canada

246! "You are one of the best fans ever. There is only one higher score than this and watch a few more episodes and you'll be there."

mine was 244. Check out #14. The actress George wanted to date in that episode was Marisa Tomei but that name doesn't show up in the list. I picked Clarissa because it sounded the same.

I don't have anything to add to the "old" shows that everyone has mentioned, but I think one current show is worthy of mention - "Two and a Half Men". This is the one sitcom currently on TV that I make it a point to watch. Charlie Sheen is terrific in this show.

Did he actual date Marissa Tomei, or was it a dream of his to date her? I always thought that George was engaged to Susan and one of Elaine's friends tells him she can set him up with Marissa Tomei , so he uses Elaine as an alibi to meet Marissa and when he returns Susan thinks he is having an affair with Elaine.... dont think they ever dated. That's the same episode that Jerry buys a cadillac for his parents. Was Sally a choice? I remember an episode where Kathy Griffins starred and Jerry called her a bad actress and she did her own stand-up routine where she slagged Jerry ... was she George's girlfriend?

I thought someone said "What was the name of the actor George dated" .... well he never dated Marissa Tomei. Elaine's friend told him she could set him up, but he was engaged. Elaine was his alibi, he met Marissa in the park ... it didnt go as George had planned and at the end Susan , though she was weary of George's obsession with Marissa Tomei, had a suspicion that George was having an affair with Elaine. Ahhh they came up with some good stuff. But if the question was "What actor could he have dated" ... then the answer is Marissa Tomei and whoever made the test up needs to take seinfeld classes himself.

I have to move "WKRP in Cincinnati" to #2 and "All in the Family" to #3. Don't know how I could have forgotten about this one: probably because I'm angry they've come out with only the first season on DVD. I want all 6 to be released. It's my absolute favorite sitcom ever. "The Larry Sanders Show" No laugh track....talk show sequences for "air" shot on video, TV-style....everything else shot on film, documentary-style...even the talk show sequences in commercial break. Very clever. Superbly written, acted, and directed. Memorable characters. On HBO, so not as mainstream...but it shows up at times on Showcase, Bravo, etc. Both Letterman and Leno have mentioned how true to life it can be.

Roseanne, Grace Under Fire. There hasn't been a good show about working class people in a long time.
I'm suprised noone's mentioned Mad About You.

Again top-notch acting in Roseanne...took on some solid issues. Never got into "Grace Under Fire", "Mad About You", or "3rd Rock From the Sun"....although John Lithgow was in acting heaven with that character.

I remember really liking The Fresh Prince of Bel-air. I also liked That 70's Show. I felt that it should have ended earlier than it did, though.

Larry Sanders was brilliant. I bought the Season 1 DVD set when it first arrived and have been disappointed to see it not followed up yet, but rumor is that Season 2 IS coming.
Fortunately, I've been able to find and download the entire series online for my viewing pleasure.

WKRP! Why is this not out on DVD? It is....but the music that was featured when it orginally aired isn't....too much money to get the licensing. To me, the music was of minor significance.....but I can see why the artists would want their share. Bread and butter.... But you can get it on DVD on ebay, etc....it just won't have the original music. You CAN get it with the original music.....but it must be "unofficial". And I wonder about the quality. Likely transferred from VHS. Another site says Fox is putting out Season One without the original music in April 2007. The whole thing is as crazy as was the show.....

For current shows, there's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Heh. I remember renting the first season on DVD and watching and thinking, "This guy is an ***hole." It finally clicked for me halfway through the third episode, "It's not him, he's surrounded by ***holes more neurotic than him". Love it!

Here's the best Sony is going to do, apparently: A DVD set drawn from all six seasons titled Not Just the Best of the Larry Sanders Show is to be released by Sony Pictures on April 17, 2007.[1] The 4-disc DVD set features 23 episodes and features 8 hours of bonus material. Shandling re-visits the show's cast and guest stars including Jerry Seinfeld, Alec Baldwin, Sharon Stone, David Duchovny, Carol Burnett, Jon Stewart, Ellen Degeneres, Jeremy Piven, Sarah Silverman, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Greg Kinnear, and Tom Petty. Not bad.....but not good enough for me.....I've asked for the download as well by PM.

Maybe they could manufacture the WKRP episodes in countries where the copywrite rules are different. For example, in North America, there is a 50 year copywrite law in place, before the music becomes public domain. In Japan, it is only 20 years. I remember back in the 80's, the Beatles music was released in North America, the first four albums on EMI in mono only. The later Apple albums were not released, but Abbby Road was released in Japan against the will of Apple Records in London. Apple Japan sited the 20 year copywrite laws and was able to release it there. It was not available in North America or Europe because the laws were different at 50 years. Maybe we need the Japanese to press these DVD's for us North Americans for import on E Bay or another site.

One other thing about WKRP. Without the original soundtrack, it would ruin some of the better episodes. One that stands out was the one about the Russian defectors and the use of Elton John's song "Tiny Dancer". It hit the mood just right, at the end of that classic episode. Without that song, this episode would have less meaning. I would rather wait to get the original material, then spend money on a less than ideal set.
