I am happy with the job done by the habs yesterday...B+...
We get a guy that "might" become the best offensive player in the draft in the Kat We add grit with Lapierre We add a big Center with good scoring hands in Urquhart We add an hulking defenseman in O'Byrne
A lot of people here were complaining that we lacked all of these. Savard and Timmins did just that and picked some in our backyard too..so I don't know why so many people are not happy..I don't know these players either but I give AS and TT the benefits of the doubt...I wanted O'Sullivan too..but a lot of teams passed on him not only TT and AS..56 by Minnessota..as I said before, I don't think there was a better Organisation for this kid..Lamaire will really devellop him well..As for Corey Locke, he is still available. same with Paetch but you know what, they are still available for a reason...but I would pick Locke to give a show to my fans down in Hamilton..I don't think he will make it passed that..IMO
I say good Job to the habs..I hope they will let the Russian guy pick one or two Sleepers from Eastern Europe and I hope they pick at least a goalie today and I am happy..
Anyone know when the fourth round starts..Is it 1PM again?
Cheers FREAK

The draft started 9:00 Nashville time, 10:00 for most of us, so it's only been on for 10-15 minutes. I hope we make some personal moves today. Marc, you may want to try the fan590.com and listen to their live feed. They may cover the draft. Mind you, you have to put up with Howard Berger thanks for the info..I thought 8 am their time was too early to start the 2nd round... Freaky, yeah I hope we go to the Russian scout and tell him ''work the Markov/Korneev magic once again'''

Fourth Round starts at 10:00 ET, so 20 minutes ago. It is on LeafsTV, and ESPN.com, NHL.com, TSN.ca, and CBC.ca are all covering it online...poorly.

Hmm, I don't mind taking Locke, but I think Ezhov would have been a much better pick. He went right after to Buffalo.
Also, didn't we get pick 109 from Nashville, in exchange for Petrov?

Also, didn't we get pick 109 from Nashville, in exchange for Petrov? we traded to the Caps and we got pick #123 which we used on: DANNY STEWART 4/23/1985 CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI CA 5' 11.5" 173 QMJHL RIMOUSKI LW L I wonder if we got something else to trade down in the 4th round? Really happy we took the risk on Locke...oh sure he may just be another small skilled player who can't make it..but he could also become a Martin St Louis type(Marty ain't all that bigger than Corey)

I would still like to see us draft some more D-men. You can never have enough quality defenseman.

You can't teach scoring and Locke can score, nothing wrong with having small players if they can play you just have to be able to protect hem with something other than smurfs and it looks like the Habs are moving in that direction.Even if he is only a depth player if he keeps his scoring touch in a call up situation the Habs atleast have a spark plug. Excuse my ignorance, but how does everyone know so much about the junior players? Is it from simply reading the publications (as I have done), and taking the 'expers' opinions, or have some of you actually seen these players play?

Well, Washington made the pick at #155 so I guess we did not get that in the trade. Probably future considerations or something like that.

Paetsch is still around as round 5 comes to a close(we had no pick..CJ compensation) If he was a 2nd round pick last year and has fallen to the 6th round, there must be something wrong with him that we don't know. He must have done poorly during the draft interviews or tests. Still worth the risk in the 6th round IMO.

We'll see as the draft progresses if we got another Washington pick or not. I wish I could find more coverage besides the bland NHL site. At least it seems like the teams are picking players quickly.

Not much of interest for Habs fans in that 5th round...lol. Bring on the 6th, and two more names we will never have heard of.

Still worth the risk in the 6th round IMO. As a draft re-entry, i don't think Paetch would have been involved in the draft interviews and testing...could be wrong though...

AS and TT may go after a goalie with one of these 6th round picks...who knows.

When do we start to draft other positions? Hopefully now...i'm kind of suprised that the Habs have not picked a goalie yet, although i guess this years goalie crop isn't that great past the top 3-4 guys...

True, but it wouldn't hurt to pick one anyway. Yeah but if the Habs deem all the remaining goalies as being garbage, then i would pass on them and just draft a goalie in 2004...
