A few words on Paetsch...hoping he's around at #188.
History Nathan stepped into full time WHL duty with Moose Jaw as a 16 year old in 1999. Played at Moose Jaw with current Caps prospect Brian Sutherby. Nathan was named Moose Jaw's defenseman of the year and playoff MVP after the 2000-01 season. He has also played in several national tournaments, including the 2000 U17 Championship and the 2000 U18 Four Nations Cup. Also played for Team Cherry in the 2001 top prospects game. In his draft year, he was rated by The Hockey News as the 51st best player overall, and 37th best North American forward or defenseman by the CSB.
Talent Analysis Known primarily as a finesse-type player, Nathan is an excellent passer and a very good skater. He has a good shot and is known for working hard and bringing his game every night. A very intelligent player and a good leader, Nathan can be counted on to make smart decisions with the puck on a consistent basis. While Nathan does stand up for his teammates when needed, he is not an especially aggressive player and won't go out of his way to throw a hit. It is over concern over his size and his physical game that he dropped to 58.
Future With several developing blueliners already pencilled in to the AHL and ahead of him in terms of development, Nathan will almost certainly finish out his junior career before he plays in Washington. He will have all the time he needs to round out his game, and will probably play at least a year in the AHL before he gets called up to Washington. When his game is completely developed, he should be a solid third, fourth, or fifth defenseman and will see time on the power play.
Stats Season Team League GP G A PTS PIM +/- 02-03 Moose Jaw WHL 59 15 39 54 81 +5 01-02 Moose Jaw WHL 56 15 33 48 75 00-01 Moose Jaw WHL 70 8 54 62 118 99-00 Moose Jaw WHL 68 9 35 44 49

#188 Montreal picks ... 188 MTL (from TOR) MARK FLOOD 9/29/1984 CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI CA 6' .5" 176 OHL PETERBOROUGH D R Another tall player, but at 176, man does he need to fill out. Don't make him go to restaurants with Traverse. He's also a righty, what's with the righthanded favouritism? Lefties are just as good. Wasn't Bobby Orr a lefty.

Not eating enough of his home grown spuds. Two kids in one draft from PEI...our new favourite source of young talent...lol. Also, two D'men at 6'5"...better raise the beams in the dressing room.

The Peterborough Petes Website Lists him at 6'1. His favourite Team is the Habs, and they have this to say about him. Junior D grad a great skater who moves the puck well and has a good understanding of the game. Could blossom with more ice time this year.[/b]

Picking up a lot of Canadian talent today. All but two players so far from Canada. One from NS, two from PEI, one from QC, one from ON, and one from BC.
