The Junior de Montreal have acquired Angelo Esposito from the Quebec Remparts. Gave up a lot too, to get him... Esposito Feels At HomeSo Angelo realizes, sort of, his dream of playing hockey in Montreal...

Wonders if this kind of trade would have happened if the team stayed in St. John's .....
Anyhoo ... the best player in the deal is J.S. Allard. It mentions that there are clauses in place if Esposito makes Atlanta .... but Allard has a decent shot at making Buffalo. J.S was a #1 draft pick in the Q, and came to a place that just as well may have been the outer reaches of Siberia as far as he was concerned... he was in a complete state of culture shock his rookie season. But the past two years has seen this kid mature and get better each time he takes the ice ..... it was a treat to watch him.
Oh and I wouldn't worry about Esposito being cut three times from the WJC team .... the other guy made out ok, that would be Stanley Cup Champion Daniel Cleary.

Yeah but it took Cleary 4 teams (Chicago, Edmonton, Phoenix, Detroit) and almost hitting his 28th birthday until he bacame a bona fide NHL player.

The story they told on CBC was that only 2 teams, Detroit & Toronto, were interested in Cleary. Picking Detroit shows that, besides being a good hockey player, he's also a pretty smart guy.

There's a difference between Cleary and Esposito. Espo is useless as a bottom 6 forward. He either needs to produce goals (or points), or he won't make The Show.

...Espo will have a much better shot at making himself an NHL nich in Atlanta than he did in Pittsburgh but I'm not sure he needed the additionnal pressure of being the franchise player of a newly formed junior hockey team in Montreal...
