That came out of nowhere- Phoenix was never mentioned as a player.

Don't recall Jokinen's contract status. Maguire likes it for both. Ballard and Boynton do add A LOT of depth to a weak defense. Ballard is a skilled blue liner. Bouwmeester, Ballard, and Boynton give them 3 B's and a pretty good trio to look to.

Martin wants to build from the goal out. He got a good goalie, now has an improved defense...
...and the air is cleaned for his new rookie coach because Jokkinen is rumored to be quite tough on coaches...
Obviously Jokkinen is the best player of that trade but Martin got a good deal IMO.

I think the Phoenix offense just got a whole lot better but I don't know their defense corps all that well.
Have to watch who Gretzky targets after July 1st. Might be a veteran defenseman or two.
