Interesting that among these excellent lists I've not noticed a couple of other Scorcese/De Niro classics:
Taxi Driver - "all the animals come out at nite.....some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets."
Raging Bull - "You never got me down, Ray. Ya hear me? Never got me down."

Ferris Buelller's Day Off. Yes, that's not a big list, but I try to watch that movie yearly.

Always forget about this classic scene. I think I last watched the movie a few years back.

I've got a couple of movies that I love watching once every 4 or 5 months:
Good Will Hunting Anchorman (when I need a good laugh) The Crimson River (La Riviere Pourpre) Saving Private Ryan

In the Heat of the Night. "Why Virgil ... you're just like the rest of us ..." Classic film on so many levels. Cheers.

Don't know about any of CO's movies . . . are they something for the home theatre? Are they EVER! So my wife wanted to watch a movie the other night . . . I keep telling her about the great recommendations on HabsRus, and listed a couple of the "can't miss" movies you mentioned. She couldn't find them at our local Blockbuster, though, so I forced to endure some chick flick. Are these "chick flicks"?

Mind you, to get the full enjoyment of them, you need to wait until the mother in law is over for dinner. The thing most people don't know about CO is that he is a dedicated social worker. I can't even begin to describe the amount of work he does for YWCA swimming club for senior woman. In fact, besides giving them full body massages (for FREE), he pops in his movies to keep them entertained. I tell you, dentures fly right off their mouths when they see his collection.

Casablanca - more memorable lines than any movie, ever. The dialogue is terrific, even though it's nearly 70 years old.
The Usual Suspects - Weird, convoluted movie that keeps you on your toes.
