Can't say I've seen very much of him ,and haven't gotten down to Hamilton, but according to the Lightning coach John Tortellini Svitov wasn't being considered for recall anytime soon for the struggluing Tampa team. I know Doc was high on him.Anybody had a real good look?Seems to be an intresting comment from the Tampa coach? HFTO

Minor adjustment Lightning ships Alexander Svitov back to the AHL for his lack of game-time intensity. By DAMIAN CRISTODERO, Times Staff Writer Published December 5, 2003 TAMPA - Alexander Svitov is out of time. NHL time, that is. The center, whom the Lightning has tried to develop over two seasons by force feeding at the game's highest level, was sent to AHL Hamilton on Tuesday after a nonexistent effort against the Canadiens. Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella said Thursday that unless Svitov, the No.3 overall pick in the 2001 draft, learns how to consistently compete and play with energy, he can "rot in the minors." - www.sptimes.com/2003/12/05/Lightning/Minor_adjustment.shtml

I have seen him play a couple of times on TV.To my knowledge, Jarvis doesn't seem to mind him in Hamilton. I wonder how much of this is John Tortorella... Is he a difficult coach perhaps? He's had a few run-ins with some of his other players most notably Lecavalier.
Cheers,

Tampa needs a couple of proven goal scorers like Audette and Perreault to pull them out of their funk. Maybe some experience on LD like Dykhuis would help, too! Now what do they have to offer in return?

This young Tampa Bay feller puts me in mind somewhat of our own Chadimir Kilgerov.

I've watched Svitov play when he's been in Hamilton (I'm a season ticket holder) and I've been very impressed, for the most part. When I compare him to the other Bulldogs I'm a little envious of Tampa Bay - Svitov sure looks like the real deal to me. He's big, he uses his size and he's very skilled. I can see where he might be a bit of a "slacker" though - sometimes he does seem to coast. I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since he hasn't spent a lot of time in Hamilton so I assumed he needs to get used to the change in teammates and organizatioin. From what I've seen, if he has the right mental makeup he'll be a star at the NHL level. If the Habs could ever pry him away from Tampa I think he would be a real steal.

Well if any organization is going to get as good a look at Svitov as Tampa Bay, it's Montreal. I imagine it's tough for a guy like Svitov playing with a bunch of guys who aren't in the same organization. The priority in Hamilton is to play the Habs prospects as much as possible - who's looking out for Svitov? Does Jarvis even care about him? He's like a hired gun and I wouldn't blame the kid for being less than comfortable - probably doesn't have too many friends on the team either, other than maybe the Russian kids. We shouldn't underestimate how hard circumstances like this can be on a 20-year old kid. That said, if he is another Bobby Holik in waiting then I would love to finagle him away from the Bolts - although the Chad Kilger comparison is a bit scary.

Well, I doubt that he is going to be traded so soon, he is a #3 pick after all. We don't have much to move for him except other minor leaguers, but I would willingly part with Perrault and third rounder for him. ;D
