Yes, I read the entire piece of crap. It is based on how moral and virtues liberals are and how they need to understand the underlying motives of those idiot, redneck Republicans and by extension, Conservatives. This article is not based on a discussion of the differing philosophies but rather on how the liberal philosophy could be repackaged to appeal to those barbarians. No, that's not what it says at all, it's how you are reading it. You're reacting defensively as though it was a personal attack on you, when it fact it was a self-critical examination of the author's own views. He's not saying conservatives are dumb, he's trying to explain the fundamental differences in the way liberals and conservatives see things, and suggesting what Dems could do differently to address some of the concerns of Republican supporters that they've traditionally ignored. He's saying the characterization of Republican supporters in the first paragraph is wrong, that people who think they've been "tricked" into voting as they do just don't understand the basis for some of their positions, such as opposition to gay marriage.

I have seen more intelligent dialogue from bloodied toothless debaters in penalty boxes separated by moderators in striped shirts. As Clifford Fletcher said, "Change We Need." As leaf nation said, "Hope." Those guys are not my team.
