from SLAM!: "Corey Locke ripped his way onto the scoresheet, then ripped into his teammates. The walls inside the 67's dressing room were rattling following yesterday's 6-4 loss to the Wolves at Sudbury Arena. Locke, who rang up a goal and two assists, rang up his teammates with a lengthy and impassioned plea for more effort. Any kind of effort." nice to see he leads on ice (1g, 2a) and is being vocal in the dressing room. so far, everything that has been written about this kid leads me to believe that this is a kid with some real character, someone who cares more about winning than his own stats and works hard to overcome his supposed physical limitations. I would be really happy to see him work his way up to the big league someday. R.

I read on HFBoards that Urquhart had 2 goals (1 SH) and an assist and was named the game's first star in PEI's 4-1 victory over Bathurst. Lambert also scored (PP) and Lappiere had an assist. Urquhart so far has 7 pts (6g , 1a) in 4 games. I must admit I was surprised to see AS picking him in the second round but I'm starting to like that pick more and more. of course, it's far too early to tell anything yet... R.

Lambert had 9 shots and Urquhart had 6. Good to see them shooting and getting those chances to shoot.
I too like how Urquhart is developing. He looked good in that one rookie game that I saw. He is still very young, but his development is going well so far!!

Urquhart on a tear, scores his 7th goal tonight. Lapierre gets his 1st goal of the season as well. Danny Stewart gets his 2nd goal in 2 nights.
Edit: Urquhart's 9 pts leads his team in scoring and he's 2nd in the Q in goals scored already.

from SLAM!: "Locke off to a hot start again" By DONNA SPENCER -- The Canadian Press Another 151-point season may be a tall order for Ottawa 67's centre Corey Locke, but the Canadian Hockey League's MVP and top scorer last season is on pace with six goals and six assists in his first five games. The 19-year-old from Toronto no longer has 132-point-man Matt Foy, now with the Minnesota Wild, or Scott Sheppard, traded to the London Knights, on his wings. Locke has been partnered with Rodney Bauman on his left and Matt Albiani on his right. "I'm getting more familiar with my linemates, which is a good sign," Locke said from Ottawa. "I think it's just going to take some time for the chemistry to get there. I think it showed a little bit this weekend." Locke, five foot nine and 175 pounds, was drafted in the fourth round by the Montreal Canadiens in June and was returned to the 67's on Sept. 11 with the advice to work on the defensive side of the game and become a more complete two-way player. Without the almost-magical chemistry he and Foy had setting each other up, Locke may have to find other ways to collect points this season. "Corey is going to have to play a different game," 67's coach Brian Kilrea said. "I don't know how he feels, but he's going to have to play a different game because he doesn't have a Matt Foy for give-and-go's. "The makeup of his line, Corey will probably do more shooting. You won't see the tic-tac-toe line that they were accustomed to, but what you'll see is more Corey getting the puck to the net." Locke would happily take reduced numbers in the Ontario Hockey League this winter due to commitments with the Canadian junior hockey team. Locke received an unexpected invitation to last year's selection camp and, although he didn't make the squad, it had a profound affect on him. "I'm hoping that I get a chance to represent my country over in Finland, for the world juniors," he said. "If I do that, I know I'm going to miss some time out of the season, so I don't think I'd be capable of putting up the points that I did last year." R.

Hi folks, Just got back from the Halifax vs Rimouski game. The bad guys won 2-1 (I am from Nova Scotia after all), but Stewart scored both goals for the Oceanic. He looked pretty good, but a bit hard to judge with Crosby setting him up. Still, definately near the top for Rim., could be a nice late(r) round pick for the Habs. I'm going to try to catch a Moose vs. PEI Rocket game when the latter are in Halifax, and I'll keep an eye out for Urq and Lap. Now, gotta go home and catch the score in the Habs Pens game. (I'm writing this from work - I live in a small coastal community outside of the city. We got hammered by Hurricane Juan. Every boat, dock and wharf is gone gone gone. Couldn't check Habs R Us for a week as the power was out. ) -Vees

Stewart had no points tonight in a 2-1 Rimouski loss.
For our PEI boys, a much more productive night in a 6-0 win:
Lambert 1g-2a-3pts Lapierre 1g-0a-1pt Bonneau 0g-1a-1pt Urquhart 0g-1a-1pt
Bing Bang Bonneau also dropped the gloves as he had 7 minutes in penalties. Looks like he fought Chaz Johnson from the stats sheet.
Andre Deveaux went 0g-2a-2pts in a 6-2 win for Owen Sound over defending Mem Cup champs Kitchener Rangers.

This year 12 games, 10 goals, 22 points. Wonderful surprise. Way to go Andre. Lambert: Much better than expected. In a couple of years we will forget the past ten years where we were like all the other ordinary mortal teams in the league. Stewart: How I wish I was 19 years old again and playing hockey on a line with Crosby. I could still pick up a point a game playing with the Nova Scotia wonderkid - Stewart is getting more than one a game. Locke: Scoring has slowed down form last year Locke-Foy one year wonder, but it dropped less than we expected and Corey is adding dimension to his game. Corey has it all except size. (I can't believe some posters think size doesn't matter) Corey will make it big despite his size because of his intense desire to succeed. Savard found a diamond in the fourth round in a pile that all the other GM's looked at and missed.

Stewart 1g 1a last night. Now has 27 pts. PEI plays tonight. Crosby is sick, sick, sick. 40 pts already leading the Q by a good bit in 19 games at 16. Man the Pens could get Ovechkin and Crosby if they keep it up or down whatever way you see it.
