Leaving the University altogether smacks of the stereotype that athletes on scholarships are just that....athletes on a free ride.....and not students. i.e. "If I'm not playin' my sport...I'm outta here. Education? What's that?" Wonder what their GPAs and attendance records were. Means to an end, CH. They have their whole lives to go to University, but developing into a professional hockey player doesn't allow for taking time off. True enough. But it all depends upon whether or not they actually had the marks to be accepted to a University in the first place. A lot of these guys depend on the sports scholarship to get them a "degree" or "diploma" to fall back on. Especially the borderline guys. If the athletic career bottoms out....and they can't get into a post-secondary institution....good luck. That's why I wonder what their GPAs and attendance records were.....because that stays on your record and can seriously narrow future acceptance.

Not sure how accurate cause I don't see this anywhere else but .........
Quote: "There is an unconfirmed report that former NCAA player Andrew Conboy has signed with AHL Hamilton Bulldogs for remainder of season. The report also speculates that Conboy will sign multi-year NHL deal in March."

Referring to his former team, his status and age? Ex-Con-boy. Better days are ahead.

In The Spec's article he seems apologetic which is a good first step. He's lucky the AHL and Montreal has a forgiving attitude towards his recent actions. Mind you i'm guessing the AHL gave their own short suspension in making him ineligible to play until February 11th.

I liked the sound of the scouting report on Conboy when we drafted him. If he can reign in the goonery, I think he is exactly what the parent club needs.
And I'm glad we got him before 29 others. Another Chris Nilan....except bigger.
Last May, Timmins was on the Team 990....and he had this update on his play:
Opening up a lot of eyes. Tough guy who can play the game. 1st liner in Omaha. Noone wants to mess with him. Type of player we don't have elsewhere.
