Yup, I saw that rumor first on spector who took it from Garrioch (Ottawa Sun)...
And then from Pednault (RDS). I hope he did not take it from Garrioch too...
Nilson is 25 and a high energy guy (6'2, 195) with below average hands. He can chip in 15 goals per season on the third line (did it twice already).
Not what we need unless Gainey is planning a swap with Kilger and/or Dackell going South.

Could be somebody they are looking at to replace Begin on the 4th line, if they don't think Gratton has what it takes to be an NHLer...
Eventually (as in next year), I guess he could replace Dackell on the 3rd line.
Wouldn't give up much more than a 4th or 5th for him, which probably isn't what Florida is looking for, but a 25 year old, good skating winger with size, defensively aware, who isn't afraid to get a little rough... Sounds like a Gainey player to me...
Mind you, since its a rumour (and a Garioch/Pednault rumour to boot) I guess it won't happen...

Nilson would be a good addition. However, I'd be a little surprised if it happened soon, if at all IMO. I'm thinking BG can afford to wait and see. I don't see how he and Julien would not want to give Gratton every chance to take Begin's spot. If Gratton gets sent down, he has to go through waivers I believe and could be lost for nothing.
Cheers,

True...I love Gratton and all but if he doesn't make it this time losing him for nothing shouldn't hurt that bad.
Having said that he needs 10-12 games before we can really get a read on whether he can cut the moutard
I don't remember anyone slobbering over Begin after the first few games. Give the guy a chance to get in the groove.

I agree. Gratton deserves a decent chance. Look what we would have lost if Ribs wasn't given quality playing time with better linemates. Besides, after the holidays the trade winds will pick up in strength and there will be more players available. It's nice to finally have time on our hands to see what develops in terms of trades. I believe most of the players with us now are beginning to see a change in the pattern the Habs front office are generating and they want to be a part of it.

I'd love to see Nilson here especially if Kilger goes the other way. ;D

I'd rather not. To be honest, I like the team we currently have. No Audette and no Perreault in exchange for Gratton and Dagenais seem to being better results.
Kilger, however, has not impressed me in the least. He has all sorts of potential to be a good power forward, but doesn't want to make that little extra effort to make it happen.

I assume you guys aren't talking about Kent? Do we really need another 4th line type guy?,unless one is going back.Right now we can't really say that our 3rd and 4th line are playing that badly.I to would like Gratton to get a good look. HFTO

If it went down, I'd suspect he'd fill a third line role, and not a fourth. It's nice to add pieces, and upgrade each line, but I think our bottom two lines are pretty good. It's the top two we should be focused on. There isn't enough to get it done in the post season. If the team is to do a real trade, I'd as soon it be there.
