We may see some military action taken there sooner rather than later in some form. I will believe it when I see it with my very own eyes because I seriously doubt the current American administration has ANY desire to get involved. Look tough, speak in evil tongues, but no boots on the ground. One of the cirrent common traits of leftist governments is to "do no evil" that they can be blamed for. Witness the current McStupid government with the aboriginal issues, witness BJ Clinton bombing empty terrorist bases in '98, witness Europe appeasements on ALL levels, domestic and international.....and the list goes on....

There may be no desire, and we've experienced at length a government that would, but it may REQUIRE action. That was the jist of my post. Like Sadam, Jong-Il doesn't seem to see the line drawn on the global playgound dirt.

The only way this gets resolved once and for all is if China finds its association with North Korea no longer desirable. That won't happen since North Korea is in many ways the perfect proxy when it comes to Japan, South Korea and the U.S. in much the same way as Israel is in regards to Iran and Syria.
I doubt very much this escalates to a military confrontation. North Korea may have a million man army, but it doesn't have the economic strength to support a conflict without China getting directly involved again as it did in 1950. Wars aren't good for trade and China ultimately would pay the heaviest price. Kim's rhetoric is for internal consumption.

THAT is why my reasoning behind the strategy I outlined in one of the above posts. I would shift the tables on China. Do you want the status quo developing into a nuclear Japan/SK or do you want to solve NK? A nuclear Japan/SK is simply unacceptable to China and they would rather march into NK then have that. By extending the laughable but still sellable "nuclear umbrella" to Japan/SK the Americans are doing themselves a disfavor. At the same token, if Japan/SK leadership believe that American would nuke another country on their behalf, they are stupider then I thought.

If anyone has argued against a nuclearized middle east, it would be me. I have coined "nukes with no home address" often enough and long enough that it probably entered the urban dictionary by now. So why the change of strategy? First thing....the US informed Egypt that Israel could go nuclear and RUSSIA flew nukes wit Russian control. That was a hell of a deterrence to any irrational act by Israel. It also showed Egypt how far the stakes could go. Second thing.... Suadi Arabia going nuclear is a given if Iran does. Same for Turkey and Egypt. Third...Pakistan is alread a semi anarchy as compared to the above three and we already live with that danger. So you have a given probability of events (outcomes), the only thing you are left with is to control the path. The second rational of this is the MAD policies. So far, the mullahs are advocating a nuclear Iran to it's people as if there was no consequences. A clear nuclear retaliation policy by couple of their next door neighbors, AND Muslim, will show that there are indeed very real consequences to Irans nuclearization. Further....the people of Iran will now feel the clear threat of mass destruction in their own cities. Also...the mullahs risk a counter revolution. Fear is a wonderful concentrator of thought and action for the masses. Lastly...any action on the mullahs part will also mean a very destructive response making them "leaders" of nothing more then their own coffins. While mullahs talk of "sacrifice", they have spend massive resources to protect their power and future. turn the "win/win" trhetoric of the mullahs to a "lose/lose" nightmare. Yes, the proposal has a clear downside but it is nothing more then what is expected and highly likely. Egypt, Turkey and SA WILL become nuclear powers simply to protect themselves. Of that there is no question. So MORE nukes of no return address have a very, very real future with or without any action by the West. Then the ONLY thing left to do is control that path. Show Iran that you are prepaired to pave the way to their own miserable destruction from their direct MUSLIM neighbors and I am certain that this would act far more as a deterrent then a hundred "meetings", a thousand UN resolutions and a million sanctions. NOW WAIT FOR THE SUPRISE..... In the late 20's we can discuss the dangers of the widely nuclearized ME......

But....aren't Iran and Saudi Arabia Islamic theocracies? Don't they get along with each other?
Oops, I almost forgot....Shia vs. Sunni....a schism that occurred because of the disagreement over who was the rightful successor to Muhammad.

Guess the Obama didn't figure he'd destabilize the entire region 'empowered' Iran with nuclear technology ... that's where it's going right now and I'm not so sure there's enough control amongst the participants to prevent another arms race from happening ... unbelievable ...
Cheers.

Cheers. Who would of thought that the middle east was going to go nuclear if Iran was unschackled? Certainly not the Saviour obama, you know, the guy who the press blew as one of the smartest man in America. My leg tingled watching obama execute the worse geopolitical regime on American history. He was absolutely clueless and worthless in maintaining the geopolitical balance. From withdrawing in Iraq to leading with his butt in Syria (hello Putin) to giving in to Iranian dreams of hegemony, the consequences will take a decade to bear poisinous fruit....but glowing poisonous it will be. No worries though, you will have the left media and his apologist blame it on Bush and Trump. What can possibly go wrong when you have crazy regimes in Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, AND then add a trigger-on-the-button Israel into a mix? I wonder how long it's going to take the worthless, moronic, clueless, retarded media to figure out that Israel has already gone from using nukes as a last resort to first strike? Maybe it will take a thousand Obama's stacked on top of each other to figure that out for them. To add to the giggles...... Right now, I'm in Greece and guess what a few politicians I personally know are saying in private? Greece will have to buy a few nukes when Turkey has them. Any surprise there? Brave New Glowing World awaits us.....

Not to worry....all very stable regimes...based on peaceful theology. Very stable. A dictator in Turkey dreaming of another Ottoman Empire. A theocracy in Iran dreaming of another Persian empire. A kingdom that will do whatever it takes for self preservation. A country ruled by military junta and riddled with fanatics. A "democracy" in Pakistan riddled with terrorist and military "activist". And the icing on the cake.....a country surrounded by those who prefer to wipe them out and now has that finger firmly glued to those first strike solutions. What can go wrong?

Isn't there some ambitious jerk in Hungary taking up the Turkey strategy? I thought I'd enjoy taking another river boat cruise from BudaPest to Amsterdam, but not anymore. I will not support a tin pot dictator. You'd think than ruining their economy would deal with these guys, but I'm not sure that works. You have to ruin their personal economy and those of their friends who keep them in power.

Russia was already selling to Iran. UK, Germany and France wanted in on the sales, about 10 billion now. China was the main trading partner and wanted legitimacy. US had an idiot for a president, wanted to show how smart and coolz he was...while totally ignoring the obvious consequences. Why worry about nuclear proliferation when there is lots of money to be made!
