It's Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich from the Sharks for prospects Daniel Rahimi(3rd round pick in 2006) and Patrick White(1st round pick in 2007). I don't know all the facts but at first glance Canucks win this deal by a pretty wide margin IMO. Vancouver also announced that they have signed Mathieu Schneider to a contract. Glad he can keep his career going on a pretty solid team. www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=289113

I think it's a salary dump deal, by the look of it. Nice to see Mathieu get another contract.

Smells like a salary dump. Two roster players for two prospects (albeit decent ones) means a team is either making cap space for another move or else saving some money, going with youth, and strengthening its core for the future with additional good young players like White.
Good that Schneids got a contract and on a decent team. Hard not to cheer for the 40 year old warrior, and at least he stayed away from the NE Division unlike a few other of the lads!!

This doesn't really address Vancouver's lack of goals from the forward positions, but they've definitely added offense to their blue line.

Well Ehrhoff is a glorified winger who plays defense, so maybe he'll play at forward.
SJ got hosed in the deal. These aren't great prospects and now there's a giant hole in their defense. Without another move, this looks poor on the surface.
On the flip side, Vancouver now has 8 defensemen on 1-way contracts, though any number of Rome, Lukowich, Nycholat and Baumgartner will likely end up on the waiver wire.

Nice to see Mathieu get another contract. But it's only for a year @ $1.55. I know we offered him one year and he wanted two. I wish he'd taken *our* one year deal... Oh well, I hope he has a good year out in BC.

Schneider's signature move was his pack of cigarettes wrapped in the short sleeve of his manly T-shirt.
