hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=690417It's locked on hfboards for no link at the time I post it here, but it certainly jumped out at me. I can't see the Blues even pondering giving up on Brad. He's a good center on a young team with a lot of emerging talent. He's got 3 seasons of 69pts or better. He's on the cusp of being a ppg player. They signed him to a 4 year deal to which would lend to the theory that he's found a home after bouncing around. NHLnumbers.com shows they've got a slew of centers playing out of position, but it still doesn't wash for me. The rumour going the other way was Skost, MaxPac, and a 1st, which is almost laughable. We'll see if a link ever appears to confirm the rumour.

This guy has scored 76 goals the last 2 years. Don't know why he keeps getting traded.

He got traded by Toronto because he was a prospect and they were looking to win now.
He got traded from Boston because they are idiots.

Boyes went to SJ as part of the Owen Nolan deal. Terrible. I think he went to Boston as part of the Thornton deal. He went to St Louis straight up for Wideman I think.

Not sure of the 2nd trade but you are exactly right about #1 and #3. In trade #1, the Leafs gave up Alyn McAuley, Brad Boyes & a 1st for Nolan.

tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=212927-Feb-07 Boston Bruins traded Brad Boyes to the St. Louis Blues for Dennis Wideman. The latter has been good in Boston, certainly benefiting from playing with Chara.

They want Sergei and a draft choice for Boyes, I say go for it. If Max has to be included in the deal, I walk away.

No way do I do this deal from either side. For St. Louis giving up a centre man like Boyes for prospects is foolish. They actually have a pretty good team this season and Boyes is both (a) signed long term and (b) pretty young. Unless they think Sergei is going to make an impact this season it only weakens their team - not strengthens it. And if they're loading up on prospects you can bet they'll wait longer than a week into the season to maximize value.
From Montreal's PoV it costs us a whiner, a pretty good prospect (with size, not something we are exactly swimming in) and a first in a decent draft.
It smacks of something not likely to happen, unless there's something on Boyes we're missing and St. Louis is in a rush to trade him.

BG has already traded McDonagh(looks like he is back at Wisconsin for his 3rd year). I wonder if that would make him reluctant to deal another young player.

The proverbial battleship for a, well more than a rowboat, but let's say a frigate. Boyes would be a good addition, but most certainly not in any deal that includes Pacioretty. I see a lot of John LeClair in him and I want to keep him.
