Their subpar start and losing to Phoenix last night hasn't sat well, apparently. Chiarelli's not waiting around....wants to fix this year. Clearing some cap space....more to come, I'd say.
Should Gainey get the ball rolling in that direction as well? Pleks, perhaps? AKostitsyn? Halak?
I know we've had a huge personnel change already....but so far, not so good.

It's a lot of pieces for Kobasew, who's never really taken the next step. I don't know much about the spares, but that second could be a solid pick.

Chiarelli's gonna have some sought after picks in a pretty deep draft year. This is how you keep a team competitive year in, year out. Gainey take note.

I think he's doing a good job too, CV. And Boston's scouting staff is underrated. They do pretty well and if you give them more ammunition, they'll pot a few.

This is what I thought of when I saw the 2nd rounder added into the trade. Two 1sts from the Leafs and a 2nd from the Wild. And a competitive team on the ice to boot. Cheers.

Well, Boston has just stockpiled two extra first rounders and two extra seconds through two trades. Not bad at all.
Kobasew wasn't really scoring up to expectations, so not a bad move. They get a goon, a nice pick, and what I think is a really decent prospect to boot. This Fallstrom kid is a Swedish power forward who played at Shattuck's St Mary's in Minnesota and now will be playing alongside Leblanc at Harvard. He could be a decent NHLer at some point.
More importantly, the B's now have a bit more cap space and a stockpile of picks. Guess we know who wants to keep a lock on first in the NE for years to come.
Chiarelli is a good GM.

I sort of take back a chunk of my glowing approval. That 2nd rounder is for the 2011 draft not the 2010 one. The weak draft in other words. An ok deal, but not nearly as good as a 2010 2nd rounder would have been.
