tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=295401How long before the rumours start? They don't really need goal tending as Quick seems to be availing himself pretty well.

Lack of interest, poor defensive play etc etc
Where have we heard that before?

One of the comments on that page were "malcontent Russian .. when does he come to Montreal?" essentially. lol
I think some will attempt to connect him to Squid.

He's a right-handed shot. Just sayin'. Lack of interest, poor defensive play etc etc Where have we heard that before? Trade Sergei for him.

Not all Russians are like that. Some (Ovechkin, Malkin, Kovalchuk) love the game, and it shows. Some, like some Canadians or Americans or Swedes, are moody and hard to motivate.

I don't know who his line mates are, but someone in the TSN link eluded to him playing with less than stellar players. Perhaps that was after he got dropped to a lesser line during a game.

Habsolute, thanks for posting that. Interesting stuff indeed, and makes a lot of sense.
I'd argue for a higher than late pick to start, but that's me. Akost would give the Kings what they have in Frolov for less, and Andrei has another year on his deal after this. They'll retain his rights after this contract too. Skost can come in and join a pretty young roster and perhaps prove himself. We take the highest ticket of the three, no long term obligation, and a pick.
Shanny could easily work with the group we have. I'm not worried about his foot speed. He's worked around it his whole career and still can manage 20-30 goals. His experience, leadership, and toughness would be perhaps the biggest and most important additions. We've been down this road with him before though. It's all a matter of whether he'd be willing to play here or not. Maybe the players here now are enough to convince it's the right move.

Frolov just sounds like another problem to me. Read the link that Roggy posted - sounds pretty discouraging to me. Why would you want to take him on & trade away 2 players that have some upside (I said some) for less than one season of Frolov? As for Shanahan - he only scored 6 goals in a little less than half a season last year & he's 40 now. Lets be patient & see how things play out. We can't assume BG promised SK anything more than a call up when the time is right.

If any of you guys read Eric Engles he has a pie in the sky article that though far fetched it'd work for me. He's suggesting both Kots Bros. for Frolov unting him with Cammalleri and adding Shanny to play with Gomez and Gionta. So your lines are Shanny Gomez Gionta Cammy Pleks Frolov Patches Lappy Lats Moen Metropolit Dag/Chips/ Goerge
It'd sure add more familiarity and fire power to 2 lines add experience leadership and grit and I think more consistency offensively. Can Shanny play another year I think he could. It seems to simple to easy from our end and possibly too expensive but I may just do it if its out there.

I don't know how many teams are interested in Shanahan. He's getting up there in years, and I don't know how well he can keep up with the game. In addition, he had his chance to come here, how long ago, 3 years ago? He used the Habs as a bargaining ploy.
Frolov is appealing because he has size, and is a right-handed shot, but I don't see how LA would be interested in acquiring one or two troublesome players just to get rid of one of their own. How certain can they be that a change of scenery will work?
