well you also didn't say if it was "captain" or "alternate captain" ... On our current roster .... everyone's fav whipping boy is Hal Gill (wears an A when he plays) I meant "C", not "A". ROFL about Hal ;D I don't remember Metropolit, or Bergeron being "punching bags" unless one was involved in boxing. Not even sure if either ever had a letter on their jersey. I could see Metro boxing [not sure if he ever did] and I'm pretty sure neither he nor Marc-André ever wore a letter. Was Cammalleri captain in LA? ... I know he was an alternate captain there ... and was he a punching bag? Yes, and no Is it Gomez? Was he a captain in NY? He was an "A". Jaroslav Spacek was captain for a month. ;D Jaro Spacek -Buffalo - was considered a fan PB when he first joined, and then wore the rotating C prior to joining Le Tricolore Reap beat you to it...

Answer:Jaroslav Spacek Reaper with the correct answer! Spachie [yes, I know, a silly girly-nickname, but that's what I call him in the privacy of my own home... wait a minute, I'm not at home, hmmmm ] was indeed captain of the Buffalo Sabres for the month of January 2008. His son was also born that month; January 2nd, to be precise. He may have reacquired "fan punching bag" status when he was spotted in March 2008 eating a panini at Panera, when he was supposed to be home recovering from a chest injury. From the site where I actually found this info a couple of months ago: I say if he’s healthy enough to eat a panini, he’s healthy enough to play professional hockey. Man up, Jaro! These are desperate times. Lindy is talking about putting POMMERDOODLE on defense tomorrow night.

Bonus trivia question completely unrelated to the Habs: Why is Pommerdoodle called Pommerdoodle? Apparently, its because he looks like a Labradoodle dog. Skilly with the win! Props to NWT for finding that comparison picture. So, you're saying Kate's love of Jason rivals mine for Cammy? Well, she does get very mad at Jason at times, as evidenced by: Jochen Hecht and Jason Pominville need to be quarantined - for their own protection and for the protection of their teammates. I’m not here to point fingers. I don’t know who infected who, but Pommer and Yo-Yo are CLEARLY and UTTERLY diseased. We have young, impressionable players on our roster right now. Do we want Chris Butler, or Nathan Gerbe catching that suck? But then she comes back with this and sounds like me once again: Is it just me, or is he legitimately awesome? Pommerdoodle is so blindingly adorable that sometimes I overlook his more “hockistically valuable” attributes. And now that you guys know where I'm getting my info from, I'll have to be sneakier

This next question has been suggested by Franko.
There are two possible answers: the one I found and the one Franko intended . Let's see if you can figure out both answers w/o the hints. If not, hints will be posted tomorrow afternoon.
Question number 4: What Habs goalie won 15% [or 17%, depending whose math you use, and we already know that my math skillz are suspect... remember 18-6-2] of the games he played by shutout but was let go because of prospects in the system [or not, depending whose answer you find]?

Must check my crystal ball for this one.
Some guy from France actually had a 19.4% shutout to games played percentage up to last season.
Who could it be, eh?

I'm going to say Tony O on this one. He had some great numbers with Les Gars, but he was behind Gump and Vachon and we had other prospects, so he was left unprotected and taken by the Blackhawks.
Might be the second best goalie we gave away for practically nothing.

And you didn't even need the hints, which were: 1) won the Vezina the next year with his new team [which lead to my version of the answer: Lorne Chabot-won the Vezina in 1935 with the Blackhawks -played with the Habs during the 33-34 season, after having played with the Maple Leafs during the 28-33 seasons -had 8 shutouts in 47 games, so it's actually 17%] **2) he won the Vezina and the Calder trophy that year [which was the answer Franko wanted: Tony O-played for the Habs 68-69 -13 games, 2 shutouts -played with Blackhawks 69-70 / 83-84 -won the Calder in 1970 -won the Vezina in 1969-70 season **Remember how I said I was bad at math? The 33-34 season and 1935 are not the same year... can you believe I took advanced math and trig? ;D

Trick question, but if you pay attention to what I write when it's not CAMMY, Metro, Marc-André, Spacek or Moen, you just might figure this one out:
Who made me cry during tonight's ceremony?
Bonus question: Who might actually be able to help with my math issues? And I do mean math...

Just a guess, but M. Bouchard? Call it a hunch. The tears were forming but did not actually fall. Émile is a very sweet little old man and I'm happy for him that he was able to stand up, even if only for a few seconds As for the math question, I'm pretty good with number and my wife is better. What do you need help with? You don't remember the "December prediction" gaffe, where I had the boys playing 26 games? Because I predicted 18-6-2? That's what I need help with

Hal Gill Kudos to Dis for finding the answer to the bonus question: Yuppers, Hal Gill has a math degree. Also: -his real name is Harold Priestley Gill III -he was a quarterback in high school -he played over 600 hundred regular season games with the Bruins -on HabsTV, in the "How well would you do on Dancing with the Stars?, Hal delivers this gem: I'm pretty good on my feet. You've seen me skate so you know that.

My least favourite Habs player EVER.
Which is why my crying was such a shock. Mr. Val laughed at me too.

My wife is a mathematician ... so if I can't figure the math out, she can ....
So the guy that made you cry, is Mr. Val's favourite player, and the player (or Mr val?) has a math degree .....
I believe Hal Gill has a degree in math from Providence College
EDIT: ... arrghh thats what I get for getting engrossed in Teletoon with the kids while posting ..... late!!

An odd note. When Ron MacLean interviewed Lafleur, Roy and Dryden last night before the game, I'm not sure I've ever heard Patrick Roy say stuff that seemed nice, sincere and without the attitude and arrogance he had while playing. It was shockingly even-tempered and respectful. If that's how Patrick Roy actually is nowadays, I wouldn't be opposed to him getting back in the fold in the Habs organization.

Remembering one of your posts ....... Patrick Roy And Skilly is in the lead with 2 points! I'm not sure I've ever heard Patrick Roy say stuff that seemed nice, sincere and without the attitude and arrogance he had while playing. It was shockingly even-tempered and respectful. That's what made me cry. I was still mad at him for throwing the biggest hissy fit I've ever seen a pro hockey player throw [and yes, he should have been pulled way before that point] and the incident with his wife [supposedly punching a hole in the wall because she wanted to visit her relatives and Monsieur did not] and his son throwing his own mini hissy/beatdown fit... well, let's just say he wasn't in my good books. But now, should the Molsons and Bob wish to offer Patrick a role within the Habs organization, I would welcome him with open arms
