My only reasoning is why give up now while we're still well placed in a group of teams we can compete with? We knew from the get go that this team was no contender. Still, I feel you have to best you can. If anything it sends a message accross the league that in Montreal we want to compete and don't simply fold in January. This kind of thing can help (somewhat) when we'll need to retain or attract player. And it helps (a lot) when they'll need to retain or attract season tickets and corporate box buyers... I have advocated tanking this year and it is because of one simple reason, I do not believe that this management group has it in them to get this team out of mediocrity. I am hoping that when this team does get a high draft pick that the pick will be so obvious that they will have to chose the right player, I am probably wrong though as off the board seems to be the norm. Now If this management group is able to acquire a player like Frolov for Mara + (low draft pick or lesser prospect) and do some other positive things this year then I will look at this group in a different light.

But since most of the time I can't understand or relate to what our management team does, I'm not really surprise that I am completely off synch... You and Franko are probably right on.
