This rumor is coming from Elkund, however its been kinda slow in here with the olympics, it might give some of us something to talk about. Honestly I think this rumor is bull. I'm curious to see what you guys/girls think of this trade if it were to happen. I'm not apposed to trading Price, but I'm not sold on Cogliano and Brunnstrom. Other than a handfull of highlight goals by Cogliano neither one of them has done anything. Smid he's just a stay at home D man, nothing to be excited about. Been chasing the Montreal Rumor for several days now. an here is what I have.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:These players/deals are not intended to be complete in any way and are based on a few sources who have their ear to the ground in a few cities. On the Montreal/Edmonton/Dallas...
To Montreal: Cogliano, Brunnstrom, Smid and Dallas #2 2010, #1 2011. To Dallas: Grebeshkov, Horcoff, another prospect player from Edmonton and Montreal's 3 in 2010. To Edmonton: Price. Richards, a Habs Prospect, a Stars #2 next season.
On Montreal, Toronto, NJ and Peter Mueller...
On a much smaller level...The Canadiens also have great interest in Mueller.www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/-YzermanWe-arent-shocked-BabcockWere-in-the-WINS-Business-RUMORS/1/26480

Dallas really comes out of that on the brown end of the stick ... and Edmonton wins the trade by far and away.
The interesting part of the deal to me, would be that #1 in 2011 ... but 2011 is supposedly a weak draft. I am not trading Price for third liners ...

Agreed...change it from Price to Halak and the deal would be done. Ahem, leave Mr. Halak alone, please and thank you [And I have no clue who half those other guys are... Smid, Grebeshkov, Horcoff are the names I recognize, but I know diddly-squat about them and am too lazy to go look them up]

I wouldn't want any part of that deal, Halak or Price.

Doesn't make much sense to me.
Cogliano - is small, has regressed again and we don't need him. Brunnstrom - isn't worth much. Decent size but plays smaller than Cogliano. Smid - is a nice stay at home D but isn't a top D on any team. Dallas 2nd - is still a second which is a throw in for any deal of this magnitude. 1st in 2011 - whose pick is this. To me this is the biggest part of the deal. Although it is 1 year and a half away. In a year and a half, Price will be dominating, meanwhile we will be lucky to be competing because we threw away our only marketable trading piece for scraps.
If we trade Price, it has to be for something that can help us now or at most in one year. Not just some magic beans and a prayer.

A three way deal is hard enough to make not to mention that there are thirteen peices moving. So we end up giving Price, a prospect and a 3rd for Cogliano, Brunnstrom, Smid, 2nd, 1st. Not a horrible return if you decide on rebuilding. I don't think we are at that point yet, are we? ?? I really like Cogliano as I think he has huge up side. Could be a steal at this point as his value real low. Plekanec's replacement, maybe? ? Smid could be a great replacement for Hamrlik. Should be a good shutdown D-man for years to come. At this point would be the centerpeice for Montreal. Not convinced he is enough to give Price up though. Brunnstrom doesn't excite me at all. I don't really know his game too well but I just think we have enough players who play the all skill no heart and desire game. 1st and 2nd draft choices are always welcomed. Have to say I won't make the deal but not horrible deal but just would be looking for more quality and less quantity.

Someone should dump a pail of that stuff Ecklund dishes out, over his head. What a pathetic 'rumour'. More like an Oilers fan's dream. Price and Richards for scrubs. Nice.

WE have the world market on Cogliano's unless I get a first rate front liner Price goes no where. This team needs top end talent on the front and back end with some grit no more second rate marshmallows. I fear the Habs are going to do something stupid just for the chance to get playoff gates. Know when to fold them if you get in with the current lineup so be it but to make an irrational deal in a year where your chances are slim would be suicide.

Little shout out to Eklund (if he lurks around here), keep throwing your Habs crap against the wall...If you're lucky some MIGHT eventually stick.
