I try to stay away from this jokester but I was bored.
Although I think we still could benefit from another steady body on D Yukland has the Habs interested in Brian Campbell..lol..lol.
Can you imagine the Habs having the Gomez and Campbell contracts on the books for the next five six years???
Too funny if that ever happened might as well blow up the franchise.

Talk about obsurd. We've got Markov, and he's better. He'll sign for significantly less too. Subban is well on his way to being better too.
No thanks.

It sure would boost our defense greatly. I'd take him over the combined mediocrity of Hammrlik and Spacek anyday (not to mention their combined 9.3MM hit).
Campbell, Subban, Markov is quite a top 3.
As for the source of this, I'd guess it comes for the fact that Gauthier was spotted in Chicago for a recent Hawks/Canucks game.

Love the player, hate the contract.
Still, I kind of agree with Doc. We have Hamrlik's $5+ million coming off the books next year and Spacek's $3+ million the year after that. I bet Chicago would deal Campbell for Hamrlik and Spacek just so they can get the benefit of the expiring contracts. We get the best player in the deal (31 years old) with 4 years left on the contract.
The reality is that Gainey made this bed when he traded for Gomez and then signed Gionta and Cammalleri. Those guys are locked in, so you might as well build the best team you can around them and try to win with them in a 3-4 year window. Campbell would make us a better team, but he would limit our payroll options elsewhere on the roster. That would need to be examined closely.
Markov/Subban Campbell/Gorges Gill/Picard O'Byrne/Weber/Carle
Not bad.

With Eller looking nice, Leblanc on fire in Junior and Desharnais burning the AHL for 2 years now, that Gomez deal is REALLY heavy on us.

Picard is infrequently mentioned but he is serviceable and fits under a cap like Michael Dukakis under an infantry helmet.

If Gomez doesn't start playing better, I'd replace him with Eller and then if that 2nd line starts to click, why not send Mr Pyle to Hamilton and free up the Cap space. If the Molson's are going to blow some money, that's a pretty good way to do it. If we have to recall him (injuries for example), maybe someone will think he's not a bad pickup at a 3.5MM hit. We still get some relief. Jeeze, I'd rather have him unproductive at 3.5MM than 7MM.

Yup, he got rid of a contract, but he sure didn't get much in return. At least not so far. McDonagh is not exactly tearing up the AHL. Higgins seems doomed to 3rd or 4th line status and Valentenko has one assist in 9 games with the Connecticut Whale (yes Whale, not Whalers). What a hokey name.

Sounds like a logical move but really two contracts for players playing well below what they are getting paid? That amount of cash could be better spent elswhere. In that time frame you have Markov Gorges and the Subban who will anchor your D and chew up their fair share of the cap. HFTO
