The last holdover from the Joe Thornton trade is gone.
Recall 2005: Jumbo Joe traded to San Jose for Marco Sturm, Brad Stuart, and Wayne Primeau......Stuart and Primeau were later traded to Calgary for Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew.....Kobasew was later traded to Minnesota for a prospect and a 2nd round pick.
Sturm was marginally decent in Boston averaging about 20 goals a year when he was healthy.
So the Bruins are left with Andrew Ference and a couple of picks for one of the best players in the NHL over the past 5 years.

... one of the best (regular season) players.
This was a BC trade too, Before Chiarelli. He would have done a much better job managing that asset methinks.

So they chose to keep Ryder and dump Sturm .... no wonder Ryder had three points tonite, he can finally breathe

Countless sources including both teams are reporting that there is no deal for Sturm

Similar situation with the Heatley deal where only Michalek is left I think
