Eklund claims that a trade is in the works between Montreal and Calgary.

He's been reading our posts again.
Seriously though, there are pieces to work so it's not completely far fetched.
Calgary needs goals. They need to increase the supporting cast, and maybe get younger doing it. We could use some beef and a nasty streak on D.
RR is a top 4 guy; top 2 on some teams. I'd go in and offer Akost for him straight up to start. We're taking more annual salary, and an extra year of it. They have the choice of qualifying Akost, signing him long term, or walking away and getting cap space.
In reality, I doubt Feaster takes him straight up. We'd likely have to offer something else. Maybe we can sell them on taking a D back. After this season, the only D they have under contract (if RR is traded) are Bouwmeester, Sarich, and Giordano.
Could they be sold on a year of Spacek?
Admittedly, that removes a puck mover from our line up, but we do get a heck of a lot tougher.
Regehr-Subban Hamrlik-Wiz Gill-Weber/Picard
Spacek's minutes on the second PP unit could be replaced by Weber. Depth for the playoffs could still be picked up cheap if desired.

I'd rather have Giordano, to be honest. Sure, but they just signed him to a long term extension. He's staying put.

Ewwwwwww. He's a cancer. No thanks. That's how much I don't want to see another defenseman come this way (unless he is coming with an offensive player too).

Ouch, we were talking about Eager this past week. The Sharks just obtained him for (drum roll) a 5th round pick. That's it. Jeezes. Wonder if there's something wrong with this guy. He's tough, a good skater and has enough skill to play on a 4th line. Instant respect for our smurfs and, obviously, available. Yikes. tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=349958
