And the rebuild is on in Ottawa. I had read that Murray was going to ask Fisher to waive his NTC, but this was quick.

Actually, I don't think Plekanec minds this trade. Apparently Fish was one of the toughest centres to play against.

That's a pretty good deal for Nashville. They get a gritty, two-way centre, great leadership qualties, and he's under contract for another 2 years at a reasonable cap hit of $4.2 million per season. He's not having a great year but he's only 30 years old and a reliable 20-25 goal scorer.

So they give up a middle of the 1st round pick in a draft that doesn't look all that great.
