Why not a thread about the Bruins, 'cause it looks like Chiarelli is going to be doing a little fiddlin' around. Chris Kelly goes for a second. I don't think Senator fans are going to be happy the team is not just retooling but will be gutted. Well, Murray did say everyone is in play except for Alfredsson and Karlsson.

The fact that Philly and Boston are gearing up means a) PG better get his butt in gear or b) PG is willing to wait a year or 2 for a serious run. Now PG may be trying but a late 2nd rounder for Kelly is pretty cheap IMO. He is a very versatile guy who can play on any line but is a PK/checking specialist.

Good trade for Boston. A 2nd is about right for Kelly and he's signed for next season as well, although $2 million a year seems like a lot for a 30-point player.

On the surface it looks as if the Bruins and Flyers are simply topping up with character players who fit their game plans. The Bruins could afford a second rounder on Kelly. And as Franko pointed out yesterday, there was room for the Flyers to add Versteeg. Now, as to what Gauthier needs ... hmmm ...

A Boston AND Philadelphia thread makes sense. Compare what both teams are doing. They're both being assertive as they both feel they're the best in the East this year.
If a complimentary guy like Kelly will get you a second rounder, prices may be too high for PG given our situation.

They're both being assertive as they both feel they're the best in the East this year. they seem to be the cream this year [we'd be included if we could win against the lower-lights more often -- this month we've thrown away points we could have had against NYI and Barfalo -- at least we beat the Leafs]. with Washington sleepwalking through the season and Pittsburgh seemingly dead in the water with out Crysby and Malkin, these two teams look to have what it takes to fight it out [TBay is iffy; their goaltending is inconsistent through somewhat improved with Rolo in the mix] . . . so they're load up with character and depth. will PG make a move, or will he say [along with JM] "if we play our game we can beat anyone" . . . which is true except for a tough seven game series.

I remember Gainey commenting on how the asking prices for players ebbed and flowed often in the same day. I think he was fielding questions on Hossa at the time. He mentioned that negotiations were going very well when around noon Atlanta changed the 'elements' as Gainey referred them. IIRC, Atlanta wanted both Kostitsyns in the deal for Hossa in addition to two other players, all of who were on the ice for Montreal that very night. Gauthier probably has a lot of dance partners, but the thing is it looks as if no one wants to give up the lead. (shrugs shoulders) Dunno ... Cheers.

I recall Gainey's comments after Pittsburgh landed Hossa. Up until that last call from Waddell, he thought he had a deal done. You could he wasn't all that impressed.

Boston has Two Towers, Kaberle and Peverley the Habs killer. Meanwhile, we have Mara.

This is depressing for Hab fans. I expect the Bruins to leave us in their dust now.

Chiarelli is putting a very nice playoff puzzle together.

I had Plekanec and Gorges in mind - as well as Sergei K., who at that time was looking like our first top-notch prospect in a while. Then again, I might be confusing Hossa with the Lecavalier rumours.

Skost seems to be finding himself in Nashville. I think the only way his brother improves is to leave Montreal too.

I was hoping Kaberle wouldn't go to Boston, as he's exactly what they needed. Oh well.
