Lots of chatter about this today on other boards. Jovo seems to have gotten hurt over the weekend, which may have nixed it.
Jovo is similar in a lot of ways to Souray, but he's a UFA. So, keep him, don't keep him. You're out from under the Gomez deal.
The only rub is dealing with the replacing of Gomez in the lineup. Do we think Desharnais is ready for prime time? I'm not sold yet. Richards is the carrot on the string, but I don't think we're on his radar at all.

Phoenix does need a center. You would think that some $ would be coming back. Maybe not though. Jovo is off their books after this year, they could probably handle his hit for the rest of this year. A nice playoff run might make a difference in that market. If nothing else they'd make some cash from it.

You have to. I don't think he's truly interested, but make him a compelling offer. IMO, he'd have better overall forwards to work with in Montreal than he has in Dallas (Neal aside perhaps). He'll be the marquee guy this Summer, so there will be a lot of teams knocking on his door.

as long as he can get up to answer it. he's taking a while to heal, and may not be ready at the trade deadline, so it would be quite the risk.

Bidding going to be high on Brad Richards this summer for sure. He's 90 points hey, plus don't have to give up any talent to acquire. Two big things. If Habs can free up enough salary in Gomez, I would take a run at Richards

More fuel to the fire ... Marinaro, via Antichambre, is reporting that three teams are interested in Gomez - Phoenix, Anaheim, and St Louis.

Gomez's contract stipulates that he has to name 3 teams at the end of each season that he won't accept a trade to .... I'll bet you Phoenix is on that list

Why wouldn't he go to Phoenix? Arizona is a beautiful place and Glendale is a nice area where lots of Canadians and Americans from the border states are retiring instead of Florida or California. The Coyotes aren't much better or worse than the current version of the Canadiens. Plus he's closer to home.
As long as his salary gets paid, I doubt he cares where he goes.

As long as it gets paid .... Phoenix had no owner when Gomez had to list his teams. Plus if he didnt care ... why would he ask for a NTC?

If a NTC was such a big issue, why only three teams? For all we know, he might have been asked to lift it when he was traded to Montreal.
Like any good pro, I doubt he refuses to play for a team, especially one that is playoff bound like Phoenix.

Like any good pro, I doubt he refuses to play for a team, especially one that is playoff bound like Phoenix. I would say that when NY signed him it went something like: Gomez's agent: "We want 8 million" Sather: "I don't know why I am doing this, but ..... ok" Gomez's agent: "and a NTC" Sather: "Whaaatttttt!!!??" Gomez's agent: "you heard me" Sather: "He is completely untradeable at 8 million, if we give him a NTC, then we are only puttting 6 million on the table" Gomez's agent: "and if we agree to a limited NTC?" Sather: "6.5 million" Gomez's agent: " a limited NTC, but 3 teams instead of the regular 7 teams? ... he wants some flexibility not to be shipped to a basement dweller ... Sather: "mmmmm ... 7 million" Gomez's agent: "but we want to change the teams at the end of each year" Sather: "deal"

the only problem with this scenario, Skilly, is that it implies that Sather put some thought into it.
