Kind of fits with the AK to Nashville rumors.

Kind of leaves us in suspense, not sure if AK for Tootoo is deal I would want.

If it is Tootoo, he is the same type of disturber that Lapierre is, except probably more willing to drop the gloves.

Checking TSN aftering reading this thread....Darren Dreger has us interested in Bryan McCabe. just in time for him to exact revenge from the Leafs. I think I'd rather have Chris Phillips.

Tootoo doesn't have much offensive ability, but he plays with heart and passion. AK has got more talent than probably anyone on the Habs, but the heart and passion is surely lacking on a daily basis. If there is a trade happening, it would be nice to get someone who could put the puck in the net.

I'd have mixed feelings about a trade for Tootoo .... but if Kostitsyn is dealt and it isn't for a top six forward than I'd love to see Pouliot on a line with Plekanec.

Eric Engels must be reading HabsRus... From his Twitter Name that hasn't gotten any trade attention: Jordin Tootoo. 1.25 mil for next year then ufa. Would someone take a chance

crossing fingers and doing all sorts of hocus pocus mumbo jumbo hoping it is Dustin Penner for Kosty and our first rounder.

Would someone take a chanceI'd do AK plus a mid pick for Dumont and Tootoo. It takes on more cap space (which we have this year) but adds some potential jam and scoring. AK and Dumont could thrive better in a new environment.

He kind of reminds me of John Kordic (RIP). That might be a tad unfair, but if he does come to Montreal he'll need a strong mentor. I don't know if John actually had one, but if he didn't he could have benefited from one. Geeze ... I respect the kid going through rehab and all, but ... Cheers.

Hopefully there's more pieces to this puzzle than Kostitsyn for Tootoo. Seems like a garbage in, garbage out deal with Nashville getting more potential than we'd be getting from this. Now if Franson was somehow coming back our way and we included Weber or something I'd be ok with it.

Zero interest in McCabe. Not what we need.
Tootoo ... unsure and a bit uneasy. IMO, he compares to the Cube in many respects. Bit of a Tasmanian Devil. Short, but stocky and strong. I don't really question his passion, but his mental health concerns me greatly. He is a short term risk though, and cheap.
I think Akost is worth more though. He and a pick, in the real world, should be equal value for Penner.

He is big, fast and has really soft hands for a big lug. He does not play like a runaway train (which seems to be what turned MacT on him and he never fully recovered in E town) and he doesn't knock folks into the second row, but he is still someone who can score and is really hard to knock off the puck. Can't see that hurting the Habs.

In short, Penner is an older, more expensive version of Guillaume Latendresse.
JM couldn't fit Latendresse in his gameplan, and he'd have the same problem with Penner IMO. Pass.

Frankly, I think there are few top 6 players who fit in well with JMs philosophy. If Crosby was on our team, he'd be a PPG player because his defensive responsibilities would weigh so heavily on him. And because he'd be just above the goal crease, being asked to block shots.
I don't think I'm ever going to cotton to Martin's system. There's defense (like Detroit plays it) and there's DEFENCE, like Montreal plays it. One excites you and one frustrates and puts you to sleep.
Snore.

Snore. this. getting back on topic, are we still awaiting the results of this blockbuster, or has it been fulfilled with the game-changing Maxwell-for-Sopel trade?
