...Mario Tremblay on l'Antichambre yesterday said it is quite a possibility, on top of his last 2 concussions, he had 2 more at the Junior level, leading to 4 concussions in 5 years.

I didn't realize he had concussions at the junior level. It's a lot more serious than I thought.

Why would he come out with this statement just after it's been announced that Sid has been cleared to start his summer work out regime?

He was careful in stating that it's "possible" as opposed to "probable"; and of course, it is indeed a possibility contingent on a myriad of factors. Freakin' head-shots. |

Not to be callous regarding Sidney personally, but I have to think that if headshots cost the NHL one of its two big-name players, they'd have to start to think about not just having rules about headshots, but actually applying them and the other rules properly....

The incident that caused the concussion was accidental imo. What bothers me is that he was clearly concussed that night, and was allowed to play the following game when he was hit from behind by Hedman. As far as I'm concerned, that second hit did a lot of damage, and shouldn't have been allowed to happen. The team, the doctors, the staff, and the player should have taken a step back and a night off to confirm things. They didn't, and it's my opinion that the next game is the bigger reason Sid missed the rest of the season, and his future as cloudy as a concussed head. |
