slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Ottawa/2011/06/23/18322941.htmlIt's Garrioch, so definitely take with a grain of salt. Says the Sens definitely AREN'T shopping Jason, but the Jackets are calling. Howson is feeling a lot of pressure to trade the 8th overall pick to get someone to play with Nash. Spezza is apparently on board with the rebuild, but what better way than to move him? They've got the 6th pick now. Add the 8th, and they could even contemplate trying to move up ... “There’s a scarcity of centres available by trade, too, at least the kind that we would want,” Howson told the newspaper. “We’ll make the move as long as it makes sense to us and we’re excited about it.” Don't know who's on their list, but I hear the the pro Gomez traders lining up at the pay phone.

cell phone, but the reception is bad.
talk here is that Ottawa already has so many picks they are thinking of trading some of them for bodies.
the Spezza haters[and there are a lot of them] would ask "what took so long?" and the others would look at the team and think "we're paying $40 [in the cheaps] for this team? rebuild or not, it's already a pretty weak looking roster, get rid of Spezza and it is fighting for last again. unless that's the plan, though I think Melnyk wants butts in the seats.

Murray needs to decide one way or the other - find talent to put on a line with Spezza, or trade him. Howson seems pretty desperate. I think he's sensing imminent doom for the franchise if they don't drum up some playoff games and interest. Having Spezza would certainly help.
What would they offer? What would the Sens want?
Voracek would have to be a piece going the other way imo. If not him, definitely Johansen.

I'm sure that's the pov that Howson is working from. One of the best forwards in the game is playing in obscurity and wasting the best years of his career playing with lesser talent. Imagine Rick with an elite center. Give him a Richards, Spezza, Sedin, etc and watch him break 100 pts.

Doubt Spezza had much to it to start with but with Carter going there can forget about
