That is good trade for Leafs....Liles solid defenseman gives them immediate help. According if 39th or Boston pick but odds are less than 50/50 makes the NHL and be average player tops

Decent enough trade, but I don't think Liles is going to make that big a difference. He's slow and moves the puck poorly. And unlike our resident battleship, the USS Hal Gill, he doesn't possess size or great PK skills. He's got a good shot, so he'll help on their weak PP unit, but nothing earth shattering.

One year left at $4.25 million-ish. He's several years removed from his 14g and near 50pt seasons. Still a reasonabl offensive dman.
The Kaberle deal works out as Kaberle for Liles, Colbourne, and a first. That's pretty significant return.

Listening to Bill Watters - he hates this deal. According to him Liles was a minus player the last 2 seasons & isn't physical - in other words, a good replacement for Kaberle.

An overpaid ok player but aren't they all won't help them defensively and gnick there are still ten teams way under the floor as I mentioned to in the Campbell thread the dream is still alive....somebody may have to take him.....we can only hope even if we only had DD to repklace him,I bet with top line and pp time DD would put up at least 60 points.

Talking with a couple of Leaf fans yesterday. One of them in a Leafs' t-shirt. They were all excited, talking about "some guy we got who's a PP specialist." Neither of them knew his name. Go Leafs Who? I said, "Liles from Colorado." "Yeah, that's the guy." I think I could've made up a name and they'd have said the same thing.  |
