This one I know from way back. I've used it several times over the years.
Ted Harris wore #10 in the 60s...but at the end of 69-70, he was claimed by the North Stars.
Bill Collins wore #10 in 70-71, but Pollock traded him along with Mickey Redmond and Guy Charron to Detroit for Frank Mahovlich.
The Big M wore #10 for at least one game before getting his #27.

The only one I remember was Ted Harris. Further research today might explain why the Big M wore #10. Ted Harris was left unprotected after the 69-70 season and the Minnesota North Stars picked him up--leaving #10 available. Collins came aboard in 70-71, and wore #10 until the big trade, which occurred on Jan. 13/71. The next night, Mahovlich joined the Habs in, of all places, Minnesota--playing against Harris. Seeing as Collins was gone and there had been no #27 in Habs' history...#10 it was--for at least one game. That game ended 3-3. The Big M scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Harper and Cournoyer. ====================================================== Harris won 4 Cups with the Habs...and I was surprised to learn that he was on Philly's second Cup team (74-75).

The Big M wore #10 for at least one game before getting his #27. That's the one ... can't remember where I first read that, but I never forgot it ... fun fact: hockey made for some great nights in our house ... mom was Toronto, I was Montreal, and dad was any-team-Frank-Mahovlich-was-playing-for ... Cheers.
