Hotstove debating last night if Jarome will be traded. Should the Habs make an offer if he is indeed on the market?

Iggy instead of AK, for example? Doesn't sound bad to me, but as Disp says, the cost will be high, though Jarome's shelf life is expiring, so he shouldn't cost as much as they might get.

I'd consider AK, Weber (just so I can breathe easier) and a prospect not called Beaulieu.

CBC made the comparison to a trade from last year. I can't remember what trade. Whatever the return, it should be a lot. This is Feaster's chance to put his stamp on the future of the club. He's gotta get max value.

IMO, the cost will be too high. I like Iggy a lot. Really. But at 34, I'm just not prepared to mortgage things for him.

That'd be last deal I would offer. They worked well together in Calgary. But I think I would pass on Ignila also. He is getting up there in age and the price to acquire would be huge. Could probably get Bobby Ryan what Ignila cost

The factors I see:

a. Will acquiring Iginla put us over the top or just closer to the top?

b. Will Gauthier be able to free up the cap space?

c. What would Calgary ask for in return?

d. Looking down the road, how many good years does Jerome have left in the tank?

Clearing Gomez's salary off the books would open the door for a quite a few options, not only Iginla.

I don't think Iggy would include the Habs on a list of teams he'd go to. He is a die hard Flame and the only thing he didn't do for them was lift the Cup. If he left Calgary it would be for a team with a legit shot at the Holy Grail not a team out of the playoff picture

Well Gomez would have to be dumped or traded but you'd think if Iginla accept to come, the Flames would want a little of everything but most importantly youth...... and how much can this team afford to give up..I'd say not too much.

Better not be Pacioretty .... salvaging this season is not worth that.

I do have a news flash for the "Twits" anyway. Weber+Pacioretty is not enough to cover the salary unless Markov is done for the year.

Even if the "other player" is Gomez, I don't include Max.

FWIW, there's absolutely no chatter about this on hfboards that I can see. Not the Habs board. Not the Flames board. Not even the Trade Rumours forum. Any idea WHO these tweets are from?

Thje only way I would ever consider trading Pacioretty is if the deal includes Gomez. Getting rid of Gomer is #1 priority. Iginla is old and only valuable to a team that's contending for a cup right now, (Hab's don't apply).

There's a guy on Twitter with the name - the-creasy. Tons of chatter about this on his site.

But trading Pacioretty for one plus years of a 34 year old to a team with no legitimate Cup aspirations is sheer idiocy.

I'm very leery about internet rumours. Tweets can be very helpful, but without knowing who the source is it's very hard to know whether the tweet is legit or if it's just someone trying to rile Habs fans up. And they do target Habs fans.

Exactly.

I follow Lebrun, MacKenzie, etc. Not a peep from them. Of course, none of that means there isn't talk, or some form of fact, to the rumor. Just means it's not from a recognized 'Insider'.
