Only if it were paired by signing a Suter-caliber defenseman this offseason. Otherwise the sweet draft will be offset with a terrible season next year.

You have to give to get, but who'd replace Subban? That dynamic presence isn't easy to find. Beaulieu isn't ready for 20 mins a night. IMO he's more raw. If they were to trade up, and kept the 3rd pick, I think it would be used for a Reilly type.

The report is that Justin Schultz wants to play for a Canadian team. Anaheim loses his rights on Sunday. Most experts tend to think he wants to play for Edmonton, with an outside chance of Toronto. The stickler is that once he is UFA, he wants a gauranteed NHL spot.
Edmonton with Subban and Schultz? They'd be instant contenders.
Or perhaps MB thinks he can convince Schultz to come to Montreal?
It's a dream scenario, to get both Yakupov and Galchenyuk. Is it worth losing Subban? That I am not sure.
I think I'd rather take my chances getting Ryan or Nash on July 1 to play with Galchenyuk.

Draft: HABS: Yakupov Columbus: Murray HABS: Galchenyuk ...that would be sweet. What if this Subban rumour is actually with Columbus and we get the number 2 and number 3 picks? Could end up with the same picks mind you, but if Columbus is eyeing Murray, then Subban has to be awful tempting to them. Or we somehow end up swapping the 2 and 3 selections and Subban and Rick Nash changes jerseys?

Possible what Kypper got wind of other day was Philly trying to acquiring a top end defensemsn. Rick Toccket was on FAN590 and said Flyers are trying to make a big splash by acquiring a top defenseman besides Schenn. No doubt they contacted Montreal about Subban just to see if he was available. But Bergevin has said several times he is not available
