I've mentioned Barrett before. I think he'd be a great defensive addition. He's got a lot of experience, and he plays bigger than his 6'1 200lb frame might suggest. He could easily play along side a Subban and mentor and cover up for him.

I'd take him in a heartbeat or less, but I can't see the Blues giving him up. He's a core, character guy with ability. Way too valuable to his team.

Blues wouldn't be trading him at same time they reupped him long term. |

That nixes that idea.
3 years and $9.5 million. He'd likely have gotten more on the open market. Definitely sounds like he wanted to stay and see things out in St Louis.
