Why not Semin for 7MM? For one year? What's the big risk there? We badly need scoring help on the top 6, if he goes back to being the offensive threat he was, we're happy, if it doesn't work so what, at the end of the season he's gone. Turn Gomez into Semin for one year. This guy is known as one of the laziest, most selfish and enigmatic players in the league. I wouldn't want him on the Habs and have that rub off on the young players and the rest of the team - even if it's for one year. Bergevin obviously feels the same way. He's bringing in players with character. He has said it time and time again and under this criteria Semin is not a fit. *cough* Colby Armstrong *cough* He was public enemy #1 on here once upon a time .....

we've had lots of public enemy #1s over the years . . . and cried for the same type of player at the same time.
I don't know if he'll work out for us -- maybe he'll mature over the summer. If he has just a little extra motivation against the Leafs I won't complain.

I've mentioned before that the head-shot ruling has really minimized Armstrong's "game". We've seen hardly any dirt from him in the last couple of years, IIRC. He definitely didn't deliver that as a Leaf, in the games I saw anyway. I would absolutely hate it if he brought that game to the Habs (although a smack to a cheapshot Bruin wouldn't bother me at all.)
If, however, he brings some clean, tough bodychecking to our third line, I'm all for it.
Doesn't Armstrong kill penalties well, too? That should take some heat off Pleks and give him more energy for the offensive zone. Cause, goodness knows, we've been at or near the top of the penalty parade in recent years.

Unfortunately for you, Bergevin said that he still has interest in signing Doan Saw his comments from the Pacioretty press conference. Reading between the lines, I believe Bergs comments were in an effort to keep any lines of communication open. He's interested to a point, but won't go beyond that point. Hopefully his point is a sensible one.

John Buccigross, of ESPN, is reporting that Buffalo have offered Doan a 4 year, $30 million deal.

John Buccigross, of ESPN, is reporting that Buffalo have offered Doan a 4 year, $30 million deal. INSANE He's worth maybe half of that. Getting pretty sick of the NHL and their two-faced owners.

I don't understand it at all. Buffalo is already hampered with the deal they gave Leino.

To their credit (?) NHL teams aren't even trying to hide their duplicity anymore. They'll just lockout the players and fix whatever mistakes they make that way.

You're right. Remember, though, that the other half of that contract is for the pain and suffering of having to stay in Buffalo.
