This time it's more than vague net rumors: In French: www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/347805.htmlTo resume best I can: At 80, Ed Snider doesn't have all the time in the world to see his team win a cup, he wants one, promptly and Holmgren knows he can't deliver it without a stud on D. Since he struck out on Webber and Suter, Holmgren has approached Bergein about Subban. Montreal wanted Couturier to be part of the dicussion but Laviolette insisted that his young Center shouldn't be dealt... That's pretty much where it stands. Now Holmgren is usually not the type of guy that takes no for an answer. Will he up the ante? Will he try to make an insane offer sheet? There seem to be a lot of smoke around PK...

Can't see a good fit. Sure they want PK. So do 28 other teams. Couturier, Voracek and their 1st this year.

John Carlson of Washington is also a RFA. Why doesn't Holmgren give McPhee a call.

I'm not against trading anyone to improve the team, but this rumored deal does not improve the team at all. It weakens the defense dramatically, without improving the offense. Couturier is the center piece, but he is basically the same as Galchenyuk. He managed 27 pts centering players the likes of Giroux, Hartnell, Briere, Voracek ....
Voracek. Yeah, sure, he adds something to the deal, but not nearly enough to make it worthwhile.
Let Snider offer him a contract .... The way PK has been talking, lately, it will take an astronomical contract to tear him away. I'd prefer the four or five first rounders.

Philadelphia should be trying to get a goalie, not another defenceman. But what do I know...

Philly signs Subban giving us their next four picks, the season is lost to a lockout, the Flyers win the draft lottery and we come second, draft Nathan McKinnon and Seth Jones. I don't even know if the Flyers can sign an RFA at this point. The CBA ends tomorrow, and technically any team thats has one of it's RFAs signed would have week to match. Since the CBA would be over before that week I don't know what kind of mess that would cause.

What franchise is knocking on death's door now? Hmmmmmmm

Carlson's better offensively, but PK is better defensively. I'd rather have PK because I think he'll improve offensively, while I'm not sure if JC is going to get respectively better defensively. Pretty reasonable comparison for contract purposes though.
