On TSN they reported that the Habs might be going after Troy Brouwer or Matt Martin. On D they might be looking at Douglas Murray or even Ryan O'Byrne.
I wouldn't mind getting Obie back. Was mishandled from the start. He certainly can clear the front of the net. Also he had no issue hitting big guys like Chara.
The big baby can't take a hit.

I think lot of these stories are faked or blown way out of proportion. Last week they had us after Cammalleri, Lecavalier and Crowe. If it comes from Dreger, Friedman or McKenzie, I believe it but most others sounds like they made it up.

I ony believe rumours that come from Garrioch now. Truly though, I think any of those mentioned names would be welcome additions. Definitely addresses our size concerns and in the case of Brouwer can put up some decent points.

Im happy with the players we have and Tinordi and Beaulieu in the wings to replace Markov and Kaberle when the time comes. Last time I checked we were on to or near top of the standings. I believe you dance with who brung ya. I was elated with the contract negotiation with Subban, but you don't cry poverty to your players and then sign others for more. We don't have a lot of terrible contracts weighing us down, but we have a bunch of kids who will be renegotiating soon. Kids who are performing well. I'm sure Bergy will do the right thing. I don't mind losing some players and their contracts and all our early round picks to get a top four draft pick. Mackinnon, McDavid, Jones, Drouin, Nietzsheskivitzov are all worth much more than a second round pick who may or may not make it from the AHL to the NHL third line in three or four years.

Brouwer will cost us a first rounder......3.7 for 3 years
Martin a third......1m for 3 years
O'Byrne a second or third....FA
Are we really contenders? Or is this a waste of assets?

He'd be an upgrade on Travis Moen, but what would you give up? Moen and a 3rd rounder? Not much more.

I can hit you, but if you hit me, I'm going to tell Daddy Jacobs and then Uncle Campbell will fix you.

Troy can chip in Prust-level offense - maybe more. $3.67 million for another couple of years is a bit too much to swallow. Is Matt Martin really an upgrade over what we have?

If we're talikng internet rumors I also read that MTL is interested in George Parros. However the guy is now 33 & I wonder how much of an appetite he has for the rough stuff any more.

He fights pretty regularly according to hockeyfights.com. Does he scare anyone is the better question.

Is Brouwer a good skater? Can he keep up with speed of Habs. His stats this year looks like a good year for him.

Important to stay the course no matter how tempting, the playoffs look like a lock and with the additions of the two Gallys the core has been expanded...this is all a bonus. I have no problem with any additions if they can minimize the cost and take advantage of this up coming draft and set this team up for a long time. At least we can finally see a future and are having fun again ...who knows maybe Cinderella will be in our corner come May?
