John Jaeckel (I know, I know, an Eklund buddy...):
First, I can confirm, as rumored by the appearance of Scotty Bowman in Montreal last night, the Hawks are talking to the Canadiens. And it potentially could be a big deal. The Hawks, I'm told, were looking at two Hab forwards and one defenseman in particular. Although the likelihood of said deal happening now is maybe not that high, due to how well both teams are doing.

If it is a "big deal", then through simple process of elimination, the players looked at would have to be Plekanec and Tinordi.
A big deal would involve top six players and there is no way the Habs move Pacioretty, Gallagher, Galchenyuk, or Eller. They just signed Desharnais, and I don't see them trading a guy they just traded to get (and I dont see the Hawks wanting) in Ryder ... The Hawks also have no use for Gionta. And Bourque is injured.
On defense, Subban and Emelin are untouchable. Markov and Gorges are the only leadership we have going into the playoffs. They just signed Bouillion ... sooooo Tinordi it is.
Oh and it would be nice to get Troy Brouwer.

...funny but of if there's aything the HAWKS could use IMO, it's a PP specialist like Markov... Not that they really lack at that level but... Maybe Moen too...
...I think Bergevin would love Kane.
So for the heck of deaming up a blockbuster:
Plakanec/Markov/Moen for Patrick Kane and Oduya....

There were a lot of scouts at the game last night. Lebrun claims many were there scouting for the Olympics.

I had seen some stuff on internet rumor sites but nothing about a BIG deal. I'm sure the respective GMs don't want to shake up their clubs now.
I had heard smaller names like Moen or Andrew Shaw of the Hawks.

I don't see the logic of a big move with two teams that are on top of the league. IF anything, it would be Markov and in turn, a power forward for us. But then, we cripple our power play, an essential element for team that gets a lot of powerplays.

When you look at how much the Ducks shelled out, Kane and Toews are comparative bargains. Sharp on the other hand, not so much. He just isn't a $6 million player imo. Hossa's contract isn't going anywhere, and I think the Hawks are happy with his steady two-way game. Their D is pretty well locked in. Their only interest would be in depth.
While it wouldn't be the first time first place clubs made a trade together, I don't think these clubs make ideal partners at this point.

I doubt it is big...Hawks won't risk shaking up their club being early cup favorites

Bergeron isn't the only guy that loves Kane.

Overall I hope we don't trade with the Hawks. Bergevin just left there. He may be influenced by his old buddies...another Selke Jr. 2.0. He left here then made all those lopsided trades with Sam Pollock.
