A billboard paid for by Ford supporters using, without licence, the City of Toronto logo. Complete with one of the "aces" from the Bible quote deck. Pa-thetic! The denial and hypocrisy is off the charts. If it was David Miller conducting himself in this manner, these SAME PEOPLE would be calling for his head.

As if Toronto's identify hasn't taken a shot already. I've gone from feeling bad for him, to just wanting him to move on. The whole scenario is an international embarrassment. It's never boring in Canada, I guess. Cheers. Edit: mind you I like this cartoon alot :-D

Down here Canada is the clean well run country with the cold climate. The people are nice but bland. News is about Afghanistan, Phillipines, Syria, Libya, occasionally North Korea and China. Suddenly Canada is in the news on all channels even if it is only 60 second sound bites. Ford is a joke diversion, not a real story. It doesn't reflect on the image of the country, just a filler between Miley CIrus and Justin Beber. I wouldn't worry too much about the fat out of control mayor of Toronto. They need some press. Any publicity is good publicity. Now it's time to build those pipelines from Alberta to the west coast and tell Americans they can shove the US pipeline where Obama's sun doesn't shine. I would gladly trade Obama for Ford anytime.

The Auzzies know how to enjoy a good joke and, apparently, they get a good laugh out of Ford. Cheers.

$5000 taxpayer-funded raises for Ford staffersSources confirmed to the Toronto Sun that Ford gave every member of his mayor’s office staff $5,000 raises on Friday before council stripped him of his powers. Are you kidding me? He's buying loyalty...with taxpayer money! $5000 incentive/bribe to each member of his staff. Does THAT not violate a code-of-conduct, considering the circumstances? When the Ford-friendly Toronto Sun prints this stuff, you know it's almost over. Did you see his poor wife at the press conference he held after his "I've got plenty to eat at home" comment? Beleaguered and ashamed would describe the look on her face. Loved the SNL Weekend Update joke from last night: "After that statement, I'm guessing the kitchen is closed." So many people hurting throughout this ordeal....but he's brought it upon himself and those close to him. And there may still be more to come....

To me it's all a joke until this. In the overall Toronto city budget, this is a drop in the bucket. I have a problem with US Presidents granting pardons in their last days in office and Ford granting bonuses in what should prove to be his last days. It's just wrong to do this on the way out.

Now he's had a "come-to-Jesus moment"...telling Peter Mansbridge that he'll never drink alcohol again. (I presume illegal drugs are included).
Was that before he ran at somebody in anger and knocked over a female councillor in yesterday's Council session....or after?

I used to be a teacher...and over those 12 years, I had my share of run-ins with boys who would say anything to get out of caught red-handed trouble.
The same pattern I saw in last night's Mansbridge interview.
Manipulative logic: I did dishonest things. I apologized. I told the truth. I was honest. Now I'm being punished for being honest.
Deflection: I'm not the only one who's ever done stupid things (crack) when drinking heavily...blackout periods, etc. I'm not the only one who's driven after a couple of drinks. (Throw-the-first-stone Bible quote)
Weak excuses: I'm only human. I made mistakes.
And if anyone thinks he's smoked crack only once, as he's asserted....well, why stop and pose for a smiley picture with the crack dealers and pals? Was that a first-time special they were offering? And why did he know where the crack house was...if he was so blacked-out drunk? It's beyond absurd.
Yes, all politicians lie, fudge numbers, deny, deflect.....but these guys are children in that world.
And we haven't even got to Lisi and the police investigation yet.

That was the weakest Mansbridge interview I quite some time .... He really soft balled it ....but then I guess CBC wouldn't have gotten the first sit down interview if he was going to do his job. Did you see the look on Doug Ford's face? It was like he was glaring at Mansbridge thinking , "one wrong question and I beat you silly"

Did you see the look on Doug Ford's face? It was like he was glaring at Mansbridge thinking , "one wrong question and I beat you silly" I've also seen the 2 of them on CNN & NBC. It's never Rob alone. Doug is along as chaperone I guess to try & lessen the damage when Rob inevitably lets something stupid slip. CBC did a piece on his claims during that interview, particularly the claim that he had the largest mandate ever. The reporter discussed some figures that show both Miller & Lastman had larger margins of victory. This is what they do. Throw out numbers & hope people don't follow up.

Ford also said yesterday that he's the best mayor the city has ever had. And that he's the best dad there is.
These guys remind me a lot of Don Cherry in terms of blowing their own horns with distorted facts....and asserting that they're the best.
Even the way they react to being wrong. Can't apologize without becoming indignant and blaming others. (See the way Cherry responded to Pat Quinn re: the Pavel Bure "blackmail" comment....and his weak apology to Grimson, Nilan, and Thompson re: the tragic passing of Boogaard, Rypien, and Belak.)
The same deportment in such situations.
No wonder Cherry showed up at Ford's inauguration....and recently said we should all give him a second chance.
Ford's on his 5th or 6th chance now, isn't he? And it ain't over yet.....

The CBC reporter said, while that was true, there were a number of times Ford would leave council meetings early. Just another distortion by Ford.

Again with the inappropriate childish arguments...i.e. turning the "gun" on other people. He should just stop talking. From the Today show, talking with Matt Lauer......of course, with Doug in tow. When Lauer said Ford had “disgraced” the office of mayor, he replied: “I’m embarrassed, not just myself, my family, my friends, my supporters, the whole city. I take full responsibility for that. We’ve all made mistakes, Matt. I’m not perfect. Maybe you are, maybe other people are. I’ve admitted to my mistakes.”
Lauer accused Mayor Ford of playing a game of semantics.
“The best excuse I heard you give for using that crack cocaine is that it was in a drunken stupor, and I’m wondering if that is supposed to make anybody feel better?”
“No, not at all, but show me the (crack) video,” Ford replied. “I want to see the video, I barely even remember it. I was very, very inebriated.”
Lauer asked the mayor, “Let’s say you go on one of those (drinking binges) and the phone rings in your office at 3 a.m. on a Saturday night and something has happened in the city of Toronto. Will you be capable and stable enough to handle it?”
“I’m very fortunate that hasn’t happened,” Ford replied, then turned it back on Lauer:
“Say your son or daughter got killed in a car accident and you’re plastered out of your mind at 3 a.m. in the morning, are you able to handle that?”============================================================ Bill Weir sums up what I've noted. On CNN Monday night, CNN reporter Bill Weir told Anderson Cooper of his interview with Ford: “He has the impulse control of a young boy.”
