www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426473Flames send Tanguay and Sarich to Avs for Jones and O'Brien. Without looking at contracts, the Avs win this one by a mile. The Flames don't exactly have a lot of goals in their line up and they just traded away a guy who can create offense. They got two bruisers in return, who arguably aren't as good as Sarich combined.

You may be underrating DAvid Jones. He had years of 27 and 20 goals before an injury riddled season last year. He's also 6' 2", 210 lbs, a decent skater and 28 years old. Tanguay will be 34 in November and is definitely on the down slope. Sarich will be 35 in August, so Calgary is gaining in age, for sure. O'Brien will be 30 in August and he definitely adds toughness to the Flames.
I like the deal from Calgary's viewpoint.

Perhaps. I've viewed Sarich as greater than O'Brien even with the age difference. I think Tanguay is worth more than what Feaster got. He's still a slick play maker. He's still capable of creating offense. He'll be a good mentor for MacKinnon.

It's ironic that just after dismissing Tanguay he signed Cammalleri, who's even softer if that's possible. I won't comment on O'Brien because I don't know much about him.

The one thing you can't characterize O'Brien as, is 'soft'. A bit of a nut case, which can be good occasionally.
