What a steal by Nashville! MB couldn't beat that?

Why? This trade makes no sense.

What a steal by Nashville! MB couldn't beat that? In terms of age & contract length I think Gorges is comparable to Klein. However Gorges' cap hit is about 1 million bucks higher. Not sure why but Del Zotto fell out of favor in NY. It's been an open secret that the Rangers were going to move him. EDIT: just had a look at the Rangers forum on HF Boards. It's a mixed reaction but a numbers of posters seem quite happy that Del Zotto is gone.

I think Del Zotta has sizeable defensive deficiencies. Hockey IQ and discipline in his own end may not be good. Also, he's a UfA at seasons end while Klein is signed for 4 more years. Nashville no doubt feels Trotz can cure some of the problems and that they can sign him long term. Ryan Ellis has not worked out well as an offensive defenseman (guy I loved, but obviously has not progressed well at the NHL level).

IMO, he's a lot like a Diaz. Small, good skater, but not enough offense to make up for his inabilities in his own end. For me, these types of players are 6-7 on a team with depth. They can fill in for a short term injury, but to rely on them long term is dangerous.

Why? This trade makes no sense. Two players who played out of position for a while. With this trade, Seth Jones can play on the right side while the Rangers gets a much needed right handed dman.
