Well the Avalanche denied the deal. Great that this has gone public. Atleast Parenteau feels like he is wanted. Bourque on the other hand has even less motivation to show up night after night. Our ship is starting to gather water. Looks like Bergevin will need to be active around March 5th.

Lots of chatter about this in the "Current trade rumours" thread from last night. To summarize:
*TVA's Louis Jean reported that Bergevin nixed a Bourque for Parenteau straight up trade. *Internet goes crazy debating which GM is dumber, Berg for not pulling the trigger or Sakic for offering. *Sportsnet reports that Avs wanted Bourque plus another player for PAP, and at that point Bergevin declined. No one at this point knows who that other player wanted was.

I have a hard time believing any of it happened. That's like somebody listening in on the conversations and live-blogging the discussion. Just doesn't seem realistic to me.
But if it did happen I would also agree that option three is the most likely. I would bet the Avs wanted Emelin and Bourque and Bergevin said no.

DOn't know what his motive was but not most professional.

I don't know what their motive was but trade talks should be kept private between clubs. Bourque played better against Canes so maybe it was. I would make a move even if team doesn't improve. Been a year since last major trade and team needs a shot of emotion. Seen it quite often before, a team reeling is short term turned around by this. It won't win you a Cup but those extra 6-8 points could be gold trying to qualify for playoffs come April. Toronto lost 6 in row before Liles trade, then won 7 straight. Canes did similar thing...good move for both clubs.
