Saw a tweet from Chris Botta of Sports Business Journa( and a former Isles employee) saying that the Habs are in on Vanek. Tweeted as recently as a few minutes ago.

After his 1st game ( 20+ minutes & a goal) I thought he would stick for a while.

Bourque isn't exactly easy to move. Everyone knows his short comings. If the only offer is the devil you don't know, or a worse one, sometimes it's best not to make that move ... if it's there to begin with. Then waive him and eat part of his salary. The guy negates any line he is on. We see that. The high priced scouts and talent evaluators in the management team can't see that?

TSN confirms the trade but not what's going the other way, other than a 2nd rounder and a TBA.

Edmonton trades Schultz to CBJ per Dreger. Columbus could win a round if they make it in.

So, the Canucks end up with a 5th for Weise. I like what Weise brings.
Halak to Caps for TBA.
Moulson and McCormick to Wild for Torey Mitchell and TBD pick. Not a great return either for a prized scoring forward. Had to give up McCormick too.
Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, TBD, and a 3rd in 2014.
Reto Berra to Avs for TBD pick.
Mezsaros to Boston for a 3rd.

Halak and and a third in 2015 for Neuvirth and Klesla. Strange deal for Sabres. Neuvirth is okay, but Klesla? One thing they don't need is D.

Flames unable to move Cammalleri, but Stempniak goes to Pens for a third. Pens only able to add depth forwards this year in Lee and Goc.

Thought St Louis did very well on draft day. They added Steve Ott and Ryan Miller in a deal that reminds me of Roy/Keane to Colorado. Miller gives the Blues a blue-chip goaltender for the playoffs, while Ott reminds me a bit of a slightly-bigger Mike Keane.
I forget who I was discussing Chris Stewart with, but I don't know how a guy can go from being the go-to player one year, to being moved out for a lack desire the next. They finally moved Halak out and have a proven guy to take his place.
St Louis has a great shot at the Cup this year.
Cheers.
