This is not the first I've heard of this. I'm hoping it's Pleks, although I know it's not a popular option.
I like it. Yandle had a poor year defensively, but I think it's largely a blip. He'll provide Markov's offense, he'll be 28 in September, and he's signed for two more seasons at $5.25 million.

I wonder who we are looking at to replace one of the centers if we do trade one of them?

Landing Yandle would be a coup, IMHO ... go get him ...
Cheers.

Habs are caught in the middle with their transition ...MT coached for his job and it worked....next question is will the fan base accept a step back given the kids we have on D still need to be worked in and we are still very light up front in terms of size down the middle and scoring. The Yandle target will cost us another forward so what is coming in? MB has his toughest off season ahead IMO despite all the good ....it's tough to maintain yet alone improve every year and Habs have several holes that hVe not been addresses yet.

Everything is pointing to it happening. I thought it would be the Hawks where they are saying their lack of depth at center as reason for playoff exit. But imagine many teams are looking for a good #2 center. If Habs move Pleks and Markov only take Handle back another 5-6 million to spend in free agency

Do you mean a forward on top of Plekanec? I could see a Pleks + 1st for Yandle and 2nd. Gives Yotes to firsts. Gives us the second we don't have, trading down slightly. The difference in the picks making up for the age difference in the two players. Yotes save 250k in cap space and are out from under the player contract a year sooner.

Is Yandle better than Markov defensively ... about the same?
Cheers.

Is Yandle better than Markov defensively ... about the same? Cheers. I think he's clearly worse than Markov in his own zone. He'd keep our PP effective, but probably couldn't be used on a shutdown pair the way we often use Emelin and Markov... I'm torn. On the one hand, I love Markov and everything he brings, but 3 years is so long.... on the other, we need to make room to develop kids, too. Beaulieu needs a PP to run.

I read something earlier where the reporter suggested that Yandle had a poor year defensively but he thought Yandle would be able to rebound from it ... I'll have to try and find it ... Cheers.

Haven't seen enough of Yandle to make an informed decision as to wether I like this move or not. Pleks for Yandle and Briere for C.Stewart?
